I didn't realize Natalia Puchino left the team. That's a huge loss.

Creighton was swept by Villanova in a really tough series. Nova won the first two games in extras and Creighton had a disastrous 3rd inning today leading to 9 unearned runs for Nova.

Creighton might have won game 1 if not for a really scary collision between Ella Dalton and Lynn Davis in the bottom of the 6th which gave Villanova an inside-the-park HR to tie the game. Dalton returned the next game after getting stitched up but I think Davis was out the rest of the weekend.

Creighton is now 1-5 in conference play.

Does anyone follow this team closely? Last season they had good momentum, went 36-22, 16-8 in BE. This year they are sitting at 11-16, 0-6, and have lost 12 of 14. No one is saying they should be nationally ranked every season or anything like that, but I would hope they could be at least as good as UNO.

Not that it matters alot, but they are 1-5 in league.

Softball recruiting is still quite antiquated. There are still tons of players that are committing at young ages 8-10th grade. Additionally, you have the same issues as other sports when it comes to good players leaving smaller or colder weather schools for warmer climates or bigger more softball centric schools.

I haven't followed that closely since there haven't been that many games on Flo yet. Their record in close games (2 runs or less) is 4-9 so far. They won a lot more of those closeish games last season.

I'm curious when they found out Puchino was leaving/retiring. The pitching by committee hasn't been that bad but I think they miss having an ace. They also had a top 10 fielding % last season - I'm not sure how those numbers are stacking up so far this year.

Seville is having a fantastic season so far. Dalton's production has fallen off quite a bit from when she was all Big East last season.

What a rally to win the first game against UConn! Down 0-6 entering the B7 and ended up walking off UConn in the 8th. Coach Wood was pretty emotional during the postgame interview

Pretty sure Puchino didn't tell them she wasn't playing until after school had started in the fall. Brutal timing.

Thanks! That's what I was wondering since they didn't bring any new pitchers in.

The doubleheader yesterday was pretty crazy. Creighton had a big comeback to take game 1. Game 2 is currently delayed until 1PM today (due to a power outage in the sports complex) with UConn leading 21-18 in the T6. It is already the highest scoring game in Creighton history.

Creighton softball also looks like it lost its FS1 slot today with all the schedule changes this weekend.
