Rumor mill has Pitino Jr. taking Dent to Nova.

Dent would be the dream but he is in line for an insane payday that very few in CBB could afford

I saw Dent in about 6-8 games this year. To me, he is a first round NBA draft pick this year, certainly better than McNeely, who is projected in the 12-15 range this year. Dent could certainly have a better more high profile year next year, and become a lottery draft pick, but if I were his agent, I would advise him to declare for the NBA this year.

I wouldn’t waste a pick on McNeeley

That’s how I felt about Stephon Castle last year and from what I can tell, he’s been amazing in the NBA this year.

I mean Castle was a freak athlete. We just kind of made him look average because the way we guarded him with his below average jumpshot and having a 7'1 monster that never left the paint. McNeeley is kind of a tweener that isn't a great athlete and hasn't shown a consistent stroke at the college level. I wouldn't spend a lottery pick on a guy that hasn't even proven he can be efficient at the college level yet.

Dent is a 6'2" (listed), 21-year-old PG who played in the Mountain West and isn't a high-volume 3-point shooter. Great college player.

McNeeley is a 6'7", 19-year-old wing who played in the Big East without a quality point guard. Definitely some questions about his athleticism, but he's an 87% free-throw shooter with a strong pre-college shooting background. There's a reason he's considered where he is as an NBA prospect.

Yeah, McNeely may or may not pan out. But he absolutely has shown throughout the season why he's an attractive high upside option for NBA teams to consider. He did, afterall, single-handedly beat us in Omaha. And even though streaky in a lot of other contexts all year when healthy, he absolutely had a knack for taking games over and scoring almost at will at times against about any defense thrown at UConn.

I won't be sad to see him gone from UConn next year.
