You’re living in the past Gitmo. I expect that if the Jays end the early recruiting period with unclaimed rides they will be filled by the transfer portal from here on out. This is a new recruiting world that values incoming high schoolers less unless you can land top kids. Portalites are the cool kids on the block.

Jacob or others.

I saw you were covering tournament in Ashland and that Schierman's brother is heading to NW Mizzou. Is he similar to Baylor that he isn't ready for this level, yet. Did we show any legit interest.

He has nice length and I assume can stroke it. But we are also loaded at four with guys like that.

Not sure who he defends even at the D-II level; feet are heavy. But he's also a good 2-3 inches taller than Baylor and not the same level of shooter. His greatest strength is his ability to read the floor and make the right play (not as flashy a passer as his brother, but terrific feel for the game).

D-I teams got a look at him during the liver period in KC where he turned some heads. That's where a lot of the D-II interest/offers came from, and some Summit teams took a look at least. But he hasn't exactly been a dominant player thus far in high school. He was one block shy of a 5x5 today, though, which is impressive at any level regardless of competition.

My son's team played against Scheierman last year in the sub-district basketball final. My son ended up guarding him for quite a bit of the game and Booker didn't really do much of anything which can happen, my son is a good defender and you have off days, but the problem is that my son is 5'9". My son is extremely strong so he was physical with him but a 5'9" kid shouldn't be able to guard a 6'8" kid. Booker missed some contested threes early and instead of then taking the much smaller guy closer to the basket he just backed up further behind the three point line and started launching from there.

We had a nice lead at halftime so I thought for sure they'd come out and start running things for him to get the ball in the post but they never did and he didn't seem interested in going down there either. I think in the end his stat line was okay but he should have dominated that game but he didn't and we won fairly comfortably. Now we also played Aurora this year in football and we also won that one but I was super impressed with him as a quarterback. He absolutely zips it with little effort. If he concentrated on that I think he's be really, really good.

So, you're saying, Booker's no baller like Baylor? Bummer.

But, a 5'9" defensive demon who can shut down somebody a foot taller, who's strong like bull and willing to muscle some stud jump shooter? Now you're talking. Maybe our Mac should be talking to your Mac.

He's definitely taken a leap from where he was last year. He averaged like 13 a game for Aurora as a junior, pretty ho-hum. Not exactly sure when his growth spurt hit because this past June was the first time I had seen him play since his summer after his freshman year, but he didn't really stand out back then and certainly wasn't anywhere close to the 6'9" he is now.

He was considering both football and basketball for college, but he's a hooper at heart like his brother.

Please sign more guards than you need for 2025 and beyond. I can't say it enough, you can't have too many guards.
