After reading about his athleticism, did he participate in the slam dunk? Numerous times last year I read where he was the "best" player on the court during practice. Thoughts?
Sorry ict - I missed this post (I must everything eminating out of Wichita on permanent block

Nevin did participate in the dunk contest, but wasn't one of the finalists. Remember though, it is just a dunk contest - it doesn't really show us much about a guy other than he can jump.
During the scrimmage, I don't remember Nevin standing out either positively or negatively. My recollection isn't great on this, but I don't remember him taking the ball to the rack. I will say that the defense being played basically sucked and it was pretty obvious that the guys were trying to put on a show rather than playing lock down D.
When I spoke about needing additional athleticism, I didn't mean to imply that Nevin couldn't or wouldn't contribute. What I was trying to say was that we could certainly use some more athleticism as it does not seem to be something for which we have an overwhelming supply. As far Nevin goes, I would expect that with his build (long arms, quick feet) he'll be able to lock people down and maybe create some turnovers, which would be nice considering we were one of the worst teams in the entire country last year in creating TOs. The opener against North Texas will probably be key for Nevin as will St Joes. Both of those teams seem to have a ton of athletic guys that, at least in the case of St Joe's, we had a hard time slowing down last year.
