Remember Jamar Howard and the student section would fill the air with Howard chants? Sure would love to see them do the same for Hurley.

Diarra out (or question mark) and backup pg coming off an injury. Sux for Diarra he put a lot into this season, injuries really suck, especially when it’s to good guys. Guess it was a knee problem that started to show in our first matchup and steadily got worse.

Without a PG like they’ve had in the past UCONN won’t be the same, but with McNeely back and Solomon* playing PG (?) and if Karaban gets off the schneide they will be a though out.

*Update: Solo has a wrist injury but will play.

At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

I will not be mistaken for a saint, but I hope the students don’t break out the chants they directed at Hurley last year. That was uncalled for and embarrassing. I obviously hope they are loud and involved throughout the game though. I don’t remember the Jamar Howard chants.

Yeah, well. Beer for a Buck Night, and even saints get rowdy when Red Panda mounts up, so don’t bet the under on all those chants.

I listened to Hurley’s call with local Conn media today, and he said Diarra will be a game time decision. Diarra will play as he is able to the rest of the year, so sounds like a chronic issue that may need off season surgery, although Hurley did not give specifics.

I know it is not Jays usual game, but given the lack of UConn guard depth, I think Mac for this game should pressure the ball on occasion to create turnovers and also slow down UConn’s sets, which will likely involve a heavy dose of mid-range shots and attacking Kalkbrenner drop coverage, unless Solo and Karaban are hitting threes early, both have been hit and miss last few games.

Sounds like a plan Alpha. The only guard who I’ve seen pressure another guard is Jamiya and he’s been foul prone, although coming off the bench he’s been unstoppable so who knows, in Mac I trust!

I’ve also been reading the boneyard and the pups are in a fragile mindset. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing as we don’t want to be the ones giving them back their teeth.

Ideally a perfect scenario would be to do to them what Georgetown did to us when we were teetering on the bubble—but not waste it like the Hoyas—we sure could use the boost in metrics.

The points are anywhere from Jays -2.5 all the way to -4.5 on Vegasinsider. That is a big difference. Lets make it 5-0 at home and 9-2 overall vs these guys.
