Before I go on, I’ll repeat the gratitude for this year’s senior group especially the unicorn that is Ryan Kalkbrenner.

Let’s get to it. Assuming we don’t lose any of these guys to the transfer portal, here are the main guys for next year:
1. Pop Isaacs - can he stay healthy? How much time will he play at PG versus SG?
2. Jackson McAndrew - improved dramatically as a true freshman and his ceiling is the NBA. With that said, adding some beef and strength over the spring/summer will really add to his game.
3. Fedor Zugic - after sitting for half a season, he really started to come on.
4. Jasen Green - after a slow start, he really came on. He frequently guarded the best player on the other team and opportunistically sought post ups. His three point shooting improved dramatically but needs to take it to the next level.
5. Hudson Greer - highest rated recruit in the modern era. 6’6” bouncy, great shooter. You never know with a freshman but looks as ready as Jackson was a year ago.
6. Isaac Traudt - great catch and shoot guy. One of the most pure three point shooters on the team. His defense improved significantly this year. I hope he stays but it might be harder to find minutes next year if Jackson continues his ascendancy
7. Fred King - very tough role playing around 5 minutes a game this year. He had some games this year where he looked solid and at least as many games where he struggled. We will almost certainly bring in another center. With that said, Fred’s minutes will probably go up as even really good centers don’t usually play the minutes that Kalkbrenner did. Maybe we move to the U Conn model with 2 guys splitting time.
8. Mason Miller - he had a very difficult year offensively the year after leading the BE in 3 point shooting. Good athlete. Very good hops. Hustles. Needs to get his confidence back and keep working on his handle. Will he follow his uncle or give it another year at CU?

Others:
1. Ty Davis - good basketball IQ and great teammate. He played a huge role in the first BET win against DePaul. Does the staff think he’s ready to take on a much bigger role? My guess is that we will want another veteran PG from the portal for 2 reasons: Pop’s health and perhaps his desire to play the SG position at times
2. Shane Thomas- really good defender. Is he happy coming off the bench? Will he be on scholarship next year?
3. Townley Thomas - great local kid. With the rule changes, will there be room for walk ons?

My educated guess: Hudson will arrive, no change of plans; Jackson, Jasen, Fedor and Isaac will be back. I certainly hope Mason and Fred leave, not good enough for our program. I think Davis stays and who knows about the two practice Thomases.

Regarding Pop, I suspect he may look for a bigger bag elsewhere, I never had vibes of him having much particular desire to be a Jay, seemed to be to be a true mercenary NIL player. If I were to place a wager, I think he is gone. It would be great to keep him, he is an above average shooter.

Urgent Portal needs are a center (along with getting the foreign 7 footer we seem to be favored to sign), TWO athletic guards who are good ball handlers and passers (keys definitely won’t be given to Ty), and a general athletic disruptive defensive rebounding machine.

I think (hope) Pop may surprise you. First, I don't think anything happened this past year that would increase his value, and the injury may keep many from risking big NIL on him. Sure, he had the Kansas game, but Kansas turned out to not be a great team. And, Coach has set the expectation that if you leave chasing NIL, the door will not be open to your return. So, Pop will be taking a pretty big chance if he enters the portal (at least without a signed deal going in). I hope he stays. Even if he tends to hunt his shots some, he has shown the ability to get shots off inside. A guy that can get into the interior and force defenders to guard him when he does can force defenses to scramble, opening up things on the outside - think how Mo used to collapse defenses and made teams pay when they didn't bring help. (or you could be right and he might be hitting send on his submission about the same time I hit submit)

I’ll predict Pop won’t be back.

I just don't know what Pop could command in the open market coming off the 2nd of back to back hip surgeries. Seems like even Creighton would want him to take a paycut.

See, with revenue sharing the price on EVERYONE seemingly just went way up.

If you ask Pop to take a pay cut you might as well be holding the door for him. You think someone won’t throw a huge bag at a potentially explosive player? And that he’s worth less because he got his surgery four months ago and you can see how he’s moving and healed instead of having it done this week?

He’s a light years better portal bet than some kid who averaged 20 at SEMO or whatever. And there are 30 schools who probably have 10M or more to spend I would bet.

Cluff is seeking a high-major landing spot with his staff's blessing and aid (thus the no-contact tag). Take note of who his head coach has connections to.
