I say it again. Need his number to be retired tomorrow.

I love Doug, he was a force and incredible and set up the Jays for where they are today. That said with all the career numbers AND post season success Kalk is the best ever Jay for me

Not really arguing over the best ever Jay -- but you can't possibly focus so heavily on post season success between the two when looking at the supporting rosters that each had. Kalk has had numerous NBA level teammates during his five years. Doug had zero. Doug took a roster built for the MVC to a three seed and was the consensus national player of the year, Big East POY, first team all american, etc.

I absolutely agree that #11 should be in the rafters -- I wanted it done ON his senior night because there is no reason at all to wait. I am a big, big, big RK fan and not all intending to diminish anything about his time here. But it's definitely a bit more complicated to compare all time status than just the final stats you put out here, imo.

That’s why I said at the end, for me, I won’t argue with anyone that puts Doug first, just for me given everything Kalk is it for me.

He’s been great but he’s not the GOAT.

I love Kalk but Doug is the GOAT.

I don’t know how you can compare post season. Think about who Doug played with. Ryan played with a bunch of guys who are top 10-15 players in Creighton history. I don’t think Ryan sniffs the Sweet 16 if roles are reversed.

Ryan also has an extra year when it comes to career numbers.

Let’s just call Kalk the best defensive player ever at Creighton. Doug is the best offensive player.

Doug is the GOAT at Creighton.

We don’t get an invite to the Big East without him. Without that, Kalkbrenner and the many other great players we’ve had since then likely never wear a Creighton jersey.

Kalkbrenner is the greatest defensive player ever at Creighton and is on the Jays Mt. Rushmore. His number absolutely should hang in the rafters.

Kalk is the man, also such a good dude. A humble guy that loved the Jays. In the era of the portal and NIL, Kalk could have gone anywhere for big bucks but remained at CU , special guy who will be missed.

I like this. A true and fair solution to the GOAT dilemma. Both players were transformational to the program.

Doug, for firmly entrenching his dad as a successful coach at Creighton, bringing the program successfully into the BE and gaining national attention, buying time for Mac to build a BE-caliber roster through recruiting etc, and being a Creighton face in the NBA.

Kalk, for re-establishing post play at Creighton after too many years of using stretch 4's at the 5, unprecedented postseason success and defensive honors, and demonstrating loyalty to the program and city at the advent of the Wild West NIL/portal era.
