I know I'll catch holy hell for this take but I agree with you. He was 10-42 from the field in NYC -- 24%! The fact that this team made it to the finals despite this is a testament to others stepping up, whether it was Jason Green, Jackson McAndrew, Jamiya Neal or Ty Davis in OT on Thursday night. This offense has been at its best over the years with a true pass first PG -- Zegarowski, Watson or Nembhard. If you're not a pass first PG, you darn well be able to get a bucket by getting into the teeth of the defense. We have lacked that at times the past two years, largely due to Ashworth's lack of size.
Kalkbrenner is irreplaceable but finding a PG next year has got to be top priority. Assuming Pop, Green, McAndrew and Fedor all return, that is a really damn good nucleus.
This isn't an Ashworth stinks post. He was second team all Big East. It's a reality post.
