Because of the Big 10-ACC challenge, Wisconsin will have to play three ACC schools during Uthoff's eligibility. Ryan is saying that he doesn't want Uthoff to go to a place where he will play against Wisconsin. Doesn't sound totally unreasonable to me.

Good thing the Las Vegas tournament is this year and not the next year. And good thing Bo doesn't want to play the team he transfers to only when he is playing, not on the bench.

So is Iowa State on the schedule for Wisconsin in the next couple of years?

As a result of the restrictions, the only school Uthoff is interested in that has a scholarship available and permission to speak with him is Creighton, a perennial contender in the Missouri Valley Conference. Johnson said Uthoff intends to visit Creighton sometime in the next week, but he is also appealing Wisconsin's restrictions in hopes of opening other options for himself.

This totally reminds me of how Napoleon Dynamite bagged Trisha to be his prom date. She had absolutely no other choice but to go with him because her mom insisted so that she could bang Uncle Rico. So right now we're Napoleon, Jarrod Uthoff is Trisha, and Bo Ryan is Trisha's mom. Uncle Rico is still probably Uncle Rico but Bo Ryan doesn't want to bang him but maybe just wants a sweet deal on that model ship in the glass bottle thing. Or maybe he does want to bang him, I don't know Bo Ryan at all.

:) :) :)

Selfishly, I want Jarrod to come to Creighton so anything that helps that cause...

But I don't honestly understand why this rule that coaches can restrict transfer options is so strict. Coaches can come and go as they please in college athletics, but the student-athletes are hamstrung by this rule. I understand not wanting to allow a kid to transfer within the conference, but I don't get why coaches are allowed to dictate what out-of-conference schools are excluded. The whole Virginia ACC/Big Ten challenge stuff is crap IMO. You won't let the kid go to any ACC school, based off the possibility that you MIGHT get matched up against him for ONE game? Ridiculous.

I think Bo Ryan has built up a pretty good reputation so I'm not going to be quick to judge him when I don't know all the facts, but this seems a little petty at face value. Not quite as bad as the spiteful Phil Martelli situation, but it's pretty suspect. Oh well, just come and play and exciting brand of basketball with the Jays, Jarrod! Beats watching the paint dry on that picket fence at Wisconsin

I think the Iowa State thing has do with Bo thinking that these transfers that they have been picking up had given the right to play basketball at this level. Farmer Clone just won't let it go on Iowa Rivals Board. Here's a note for you Farmer Clone Jarrod doesn't fit the M.O. to transfer to Ames he doesn't have a rap sheet 3 pages long and he want's a degree. Go Jays!!!

I'm feeling like we're the ugly fat chick in the hottie sorority house. Starting to feel like having a kid come here as sloppy seconds might mess with team chemistry. I trust that the coaches will say thanks but no thanks if the kid is copping a major attitude.

I'm starting to get the same feeling too, he's definitely looking at us as a place of last resort it seems. I want Uthoff, but if he's coming w/an attitude that I'm coming from a BCS school and that we should be on our knees because he graced us w/his presence, hopefully the coaches will say take a hike. Remember, Coach Mac has to be willing to pay 40,000 grand out of his own pocket for Uthoff to come. Uthoff had BCSitis coming out of high school and seems to still have the disease. If he really wants to go to Iowa or Indiana or wherever, just take loans out for one year. It's not THAT much money in the scheme of things...

Agreed. If this kid was smart enough to have a 4.0 GPA in high school he should be smart enough to realize that the restriction list is probably not going to change and thus he should start getting excited about the options he has, not sulking about the ones he doesn't. Also Jet, I believe he can never get a scholarship from another Big Ten school so he would have to pay the rest of the way himself (Big Ten's rule not Wisconsin's I believe). Also, if he didn't realize that, he is not the smartest guy alive.

My bad, you are probably right about Big Ten schools. He can still go to Transfer U (Iowa State) although his high GPA and lack of a criminal record probably won't help him fit in w/the rest of their players....
