I think it’s hilarious everyone thinks we paid him… it reminds me of young successful business people, everyone just says they must be trust fund or drug dealers… no way they could just be special people.

Creighton is great. It took 100 years of hard work to be where we are… we don’t need some Miami billionaire to make us a great basketball program. It shows Kentucky isn’t as great as they THINK they are. Welcome home Baylor.
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

You realize we DID pay him though, right?

Well, technically it isn't "US" paying him, but instead businesses interested in giving him marketing opportunities ;)

What Kentucky seems to think is that we simply out-bid them as part of getting his commitment, rather than imagining that we might be a better fit for him in a number of different ways.

One factor - USG statistics. Kentucky has to feed their top recruits. Yes, they need to maintain spacing and that's why they will look for veteran shooters, but they often end up in a role where their job is to spread the floor with less than optimal usage.

Look at Kellan Grady last year. At Davidson his usage ranged from 24.7 to 26.5 (too high for our system, no doubt), but at Kentucky he was at 15.2 in conference, despite playing a lot of minutes.. He also went from shooting 7.8 2PT shots a game to 2.7 last year (while only playing marginally fewer minutes). HIs 3 PT shots went up slightly from 5.7 to 6.2.

What does that indicate to me? DECOY

Baylor never took that many shots in his system with USG going from 19.6 to 22.0. He's also a guy who creates and does a lot with the ball in his hand -- would have have that opportunity at Kentucky? I doubt it.

By reference our top guys USG in conference last year ranged from 16.9 (Alexander - but that went up at the end) to 23.4 for Kaluma. I'd expect to see us have a set of rotation guys who are very close to USG 20 this year with the type of team we've put together. That's a really fun offense for a guy like Baylor

I did not realize he got an NIL deal at Creighton, I thought he shot that down when he called it “crazy rumors” … so what’s the deal? What is the awesome company paying him? How much? Details please! And if true where’s ol LJay and all the others who have been bitching about how NIL is going to ruin college basketball? What do they think about it now? Ljay?

Quoting Mr. Buffett, “Rat poison”.

According to this if this was done to induce a kid to go somewhere before they signed an LOI you are in violation of NIL rules and we’ll see what comes of that.

Sure hope our Collective acted within the rules.

I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.
