It definitely doesn't hurt having 3 guys that can handle the ball and create for others in the starting lineup. I think adding Scheierman is huge for Kaluma as it allows him to play the four which gives him a quickness advantage on pretty much everyone we play.
On the surface, you are absolutely right so I'm not arguing with you. But my hope is that you end up being absolutely wrong about the 3-spot, i.e. it turns out we DIDN'T have a glaring hole there because Mason Miller and Ben Shtolzberg are those guys and that good. Now, we just have insane depth.
My hope is that Miller and Shtolzberg follow a Gillespie, Divincenzo, Tolliver-type career path. Solid, contributing role players early on great teams that take the reigns and develop into all-conference caliber talents and leaders.
Here's hoping today is a great day.
I think Shtolzberg is more of a combo guard and Miller is more of a stretch forward. I don't see either fitting naturally at the 3 unless we go big or small. Last year with Kaluma and Hawkins (both college 4's) playing together there were definitely times where the spacing wasn't quite right and they hindered one another. Definitely agree with your last paragraph and think they will be contributors this year.
