Probably a point for another thread, but isn't Mitchell our backup PG (along with Mintz, I should add)? He's just a true frosh, who likely plays this year. So would we want to target another PG in 2020 when we have a high priority 2021 target, Hepburn, who is a PG as well?

I think the only one we offered in 2020 was Caleb Love and he's moved onto a list that doesn't include us.

Wouldn’t shock me to see them steer away from recruiting anyone else in this class that would impact Hepburn-Sallis-Mors (PG-SG-Wing).

Jacob could probably speak better where Mors projects but I see him as a Ballock type wing player. Someone who can shift into the 4 role. He’s better suited as a small line up 4 than Ballock. And while Mors isnt the shooter Ballock is, he is much more capable of driving to the basket and finishing through contact.

Sallis would be a clear replacement for Ty’shon. Bucket getter. Add him next too Windham/Jones and that could work early on in his career.

Hepburn as a back up to Z in his year 1 would be a great tutor.

Could see Jays target a stretch four transfer or can never have too many wings.*

I think Mors is a slightly undersized stretch-4. I think that's part of why he's not more highly-regarded nationally: he's always been more physically developed than most of the guys he's played against but he topped out height-wise early on. From what I've seen (which isn't a ton, but it's better than highlight videos) I don't think he's quick or skilled enough to be a difference-making wing at the high-major level, but at the four it's a different story, especially in Creighton's system.

FWIW, it sounds like Chucky is trying to recruit Mors to play with him next summer. Mors has played up with SD Attack, so his teammates all played their last AAU season this year.

Agreed. We ended up in the position where we had our top guy and only our top guy left again, and we ended up pulling it out this time which is huge for this staff and the program. Although 2019 was relatively disappointing this is a great get and something other players will hopefully take notice of for the rest of the 2020 class and the 2021 class. I saw our roster makeup for 2020-21 and it has the potential to be very very special. Probably need to add another PG and then add the best available player we can IMO.

I think Creighton's just fine at point guard until 2021. I'm guessing they'll look to use one of the remaining 2020 spots on a transfer and then target the best player they can get with the other. I'm sure the fans would want a power forward but I wouldn't be surprised to see another scoring wing. If they strike out on either of those paths, they roll one over to next year.

I really think another PG would be beneficial. One injury to Zeg and you could have 2016-17 all over again. Not that another PG would fix that necessarily but depth isn't a bad thing.

Sure, you'd like to be three-deep at every position but you only get so many scholarships and there aren't a ton of good players who will sign up to be a break-in-case-of-emergency option.

For this season, Creighton has Zegarowski, Mintz and Mitchell at point guard.

Next year, they'll have Zegarowski and Mitchell with a year in the program under his belt. Alexander and Ballock will both be seniors and both have the ability to handle the ball and make plays for others, and Antwann Jones has shown some playmaking ability as well. I think you can get by with that mix if you have to.

If they really like Hepburn or other point guards in the 2021 class, there's no reason to recruit one in 2020 when you've already got two underclassmen at that position right now.

agree, I think if they wanted a PG in 2020 they would have pursued guys like Born or Berry harder than they did

As much as I like those three local kids, I would hope that we don't ever avoid recruiting top quality kids one year because it may impact our ability to recruit the following year. That would be a quick way to kill a program...especially if the following year, the kids you targeted go elsewhere.

Where can I find the 2020 C Ryan Kalkbrenner (Commit) thread? It appears to be lost.

Jays fans not the only ones surprised by Ryan K's decision.

Interesting. I never thought of Lutz as an ace recruiter.
