Martin is exactly the type of player we need, athletic slasher.

from last weekends Adidas Invitational:

The lefty 6’6” forward has major bounce around the rim and energized the crowd multiple times in the championship game. He is mostly a rim protector and a finisher at this point but does both of those very well. If Martin can develop a jump hook and perhaps a counter move to go with that his recruitment will expand beyond the mid major levels it’s at now.

per Zach Braziller of NY Post, the addition of Zach Hanson has taken Creighton out of the running for Hassan. Look for Jays to focus on Marcus Foster, Kendall Harris, Peter Jok. Nick Fuller's recent offer from Minnesota likely takes him to the Big 10 in some form (either Nebraska or Minnesota).

Wonder why that is cause Hanson and Martin aren't really similar players. Hanson is more of a center while Martin is an athletic slasher small forward. I hope that's not the case cause Martin is a real need for this team.

Here's the link. Statement was evidently made by the recruit.

Our coaching staff can reassure Martin if needed, and if he is a priority.

We don't need another forward. If you would have watched his game last weekend you would see that he is an interior guy only at least right now. We don't need that and I'm guessing there was probably an amicable parting of the ways between Martin and CU.

We need an uber-athletic guard. Last year we had an all-american PF, a top of the league center, a "point forward" who was at the top of the league in assists and an all-conference point guard who was the go-to for end of game situations. We finished second. WTH?!?! What's missing? A take-the-game-over 2 guard.

Don't be a WTH, get a 2 guard.
I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.

You nailed it with regards to needing an uber-athletic guard, but I would propose it could also be an uber-athletic 3 as well.

We have shooters galore on this team. Our gap exists in that we don't have tough, athletic guys capable of taking the ball to the rim or pull up for a mid range jumper (aka Kyle Weems last year).

Agreed, I guess my point is Martin is an under-the-basket player at least at this point.

Fortunately we have potentially met that need (Uber-ath SG) for the coming 2012-13 season,
in Nevin Johnson and Andre Yates.

I gather by the collective comments, that Darian Harris does not meet the collective definition
of uber-athlete, although his game translates very well to the style of play spoken of. It will be
very interesting to see how this hunt for the athletic guard plays out.

I would think that the smallish forward - Soma Edo and the prep school SG/PG Milligan would be
strong candidates as well.

Spent some time watching Harris's highlights last night and I love his game...smooth, creative and appears to be excellent offensively. I wonder a bit as to the level of competition he's facing in the videos as he often looks to be 6"+ taller than the man guarding him.

My guess is his game ultimately translates into a Grant Gibbs type role with a bit more scoring punch.

As to 2012 - 13, if Johnson and Yates become who we want them to be we're in good shape, but would still love to see the athletic home runs that tend to populate the rosters of the Kansas and UNC's of the world for the last spot.

Great position to be in right now with the vast majority of our needs met and we can be very picky.

Go Blue
