Are we close to making any real noise at the conference or on the national level? Is there a regional/super-regional in our immediate future or a chance to make the CWS?

What's our ceiling?

Right now, the first question I'd have is whether we are actually going to qualify for the conference tournament. One of the most frustrating things to me is the very limited number of teams who even get to play in that thing and the frequency with which we don't seem to make that list. You can't get to a regional or dream of the CWS if you can't even get to the conference tourney.

And losing two out of three to Seton Hall already this year has the team already having to make an uphill climb.

Exactly. And it’s very frustrating we lost 2 to seton hall because they are well under .500 and by all metrics not a good team. Now we have the conference leader coming in this weekend. St. John’s is undefeated in conference play. Quite frankly I don’t care at all about tomorrow’s game. In doesn’t matter. What matters is this weekend.

23 free passes given up by the pitching staff in 23 innings at Seton Hall is not going to get the job done. Maybe it's not apples to apples but my son's 13U team gives up BB's and HBP at about half that rate. SH is not a good hitting team but we gave them the games. That includes the 3 errors as well as the free passes.

Before moving on, shout out to Tate Gillen who went 6/11 in the series, with 2 BB's, a double, and 3 HR's with no K's.

Didn't realize that the BE only took 4 teams, again, filthy casual. Why haven't they increased it?

Is our recruiting on par with the top end of the league, or do we struggle? I don't follow CU baseball, but it seems that we should be more competitive or a destination since we're the home of the CWS.

I could be totally wrong, but I don’t think the park itself attracts people. People want to play IN the CWS more than at the park of the CWS. Similar to the Big East commissioner not even wanting to try to get the co fence tourney played there when she could have.

Agreed... waaay too many walks and HBPs. And yes mad props to Tate. Good to see him coming alive.

I don't think our recruiting is the problem. I could be wrong. And we have nice facilities in the Rasmussen center I think... though it'll really allow us to amp up recruiting with the new practice stadium that we will sometimes play at. Should be in done in 2027 per what people were saying at the kick-off dinner for this season. I don't think SH outrecruits us. That's not why we lost this past weekend. We lost because we had some mental errors and couldn't throw strikes.

I sure wish she fought to get it held there and not let the Big 10 have such a long stay there. The year it was there, we had great crowds. I remember we had a tight comeback win against St. John's in one of those games.

I also would love to see Xavier not qualify this year in what is basically a home conference tournament. They have 4 losses.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the CU vs unl game is on FS1 tonight at 6pm central time.

Assuming the Wendt Experience has come to an end tonight. He really looks like a one-inning pitcher. Or, he just can’t throw out of the stretch.
