Former Bluejay Ann Marie Remmes just helped Loyola Chicago upset BYU in a sweep in the first match of the tournament. Remmes had a late ace to help Loyola pull away and win their first ever NCAA tournament match.

They will probably play Purdue next.

Cool article highlighting Kendra and Norah navigating both volleyball and nursing school.

Those announcers were ridiculous, took until the third set to figure out that Loyola (you don't have to say "of Chicago" every time) was actually a good team. They kept blaming everything on BYU's lack of focus, bad decisions, sloppy play, etc. rather than the fact that Loyola served and blocked well. Good for Ann Marie, I'm glad it worked out for her.

If Creighton and Texas both win their round 2 games, where will the Creighton vs. Texas match be held?

I cannot find this out for sure - are the next round of games still at the home courts of the Top 4 seeds even if one of those 4 teams happens to lose in this opening round?

I think it goes to the best remaining seed in that regional. A #1 seed hasn't lost during the opening weekend since Missouri in 2013.

If I'm remembering correctly from past discussions, there is still a chance CU could host, but it would require Penn State to lose (and for CU to have submitted a bid to host the next weekend). The tournament announcement referred to the regional host sites as "non-predetermined," noting that the final sites would be announced on Sunday. Penn State presumably bid to host regionals, so I can only assume that the only way they'd lose out on that bid is if they lose tonight or tomorrow.

It seems nearly impossible for Penn State to lose this weekend. I'd be surprised if they even lose a single set. North Carolina is their only test and they have kind of a bullshit ranking. UNC has hovered in the top-25 most of the year, but they've only beaten one ranked team (FSU at home in 5 sets). Other that that match, UNC has only managed to take 3 sets from ranked teams all year (with sweeps at the hands of Stanford, Louisville, and Pitt).
