I believe his twitter account is a personal one that has no link to the athletic department. While it would be great to see some more Creighton identifiers, I doubt the athletic department can really do anything about it other than recommend changes.

They need to recommend changes. I'm dead serious about this. Twitter's not going to make or break our recruiting, but all 4 of our recruiting coaches seem to have some interest in using it. Sellers' especially needs major improvement. They get paid too much to have amateurish-looking social media profiles.

Yeah our coaches need to be more like Tim MIles!!! That guy is a king on Twitter!!! He also keeps so many of his recruits and they always pan out to be great players!!!



Are Bo Ryan, Tom Izzo and Coach K super savvy social media guys? Those guys are pretty good coaches...

From what I see, Mac, Lutz and Sellers do a decent job with their tweets. I can't recall many D-Rock tweets, but his profile looks professional. I'm sure they could all use some tips, but the only thing that must be fixed is Sellers' username, photo and overall profile.

They all look to be using it quite a bit to follow recruits, coaches and the like. No idea what % of recruits care about, follow back or pay attention to college coaches' twitter accounts, but Sellers might be more effective with a more clearly identifiable and/or CU related username.

Re: Pitino, Izzo, Coach K, Ryan, etc., I agree that twitter's a tiny piece of recruiting. But, some schools and guys can afford to ignore it more than others. And the best in the game, Coach Cal, is a huge twitter user.

Back to Damion Lee, who is a fantastic talent, and who would be incredible to have on the court with Watson, Huff, Milliken and the rest of our squad: for those of you who enjoy twitter checking, check out Damion Lee's recent follow. Probably means nothing, and there will be extremely stiff competition for Lee, but maybe we can at least get a visit.

All of that said, could someone please help him adjust his Twitter account. The photo from his days in the Chinese Basketball Association needs to go, and he’s got to change his username/handle to something like @CoachPatSellers. There needs to more coach and Creighton identifiers. Seriously, this should have been fixed 2 years ago, and there are people who read this board capable of passing this message along to the tech/social media person(s) within the athletic department. It’s kind of inexcusable at this point.

This is so right. Our staff is absolutely awful at utilizing social media.

Go take a look at Coach Abdelmassih's (now at St. John's) Twitter account. He's one of the best recruiters in the game. He uses social media to his advantage.

Speaking of which, sounds like Lee might be in the Big East after all at St. Johns.

Do all message boards have this many people who primarily post to argue? I get that some of my posts are long, and that a few posters don't care for my comments, but if people did more reading and less arguing on here, these stupid responses would be unnecessary.

I don't think coaches should try to to force it on Twitter - most people feel their social media accounts are more of a private space, especially teenagers. Middle-aged men bumbling into that space because "it's the thing to do with these whippersnappers" backfires more often than not. I'm all for encouraging the coaches to maintain a professional sheen in everything they do, but if they don't know the Twitter world it's not something to jump into just because it's hot right now.

If you look at trends it seems like a lot of young teens are kind of over Twitter, anyway. Too many dads on it. They will be on to the next thing if they aren't already.
