One point on this -- I was ready to have the same reaction, but then saw the rest of it "USA, Europe, China, etc."..
He already had a European contract signed.

He was going to play on a slovenian team, BC Krka, that also has Malcolm Armstead, and Chris Booker from Purdue. He signed the contract, but apparently, he wanted to go to college in the US.

I'm not sure how their system works, but it looked like he was previously on their junior team, but was added to the main club (somewhere they said he signed a contract), but then he left and ended up in the states. So it's not so shocking to think he may go play pro. He's not an NBA one-and-done, but he's on some European radar screens for pro play already.
