He is still on an athletic scholarship at Kansas this semester. He would need two semesters free of that before becoming eligible at another institution. Midyear next year at the earliest.

I understand. It's too bad he could not have attended the game on Wednesday, but I'm not sure atmosphere really matters much. He understands what our program is about and how he could fit in perfectly. Hopefully that's enough to interest him.

I know there's always a lot of concern about how much the atmosphere might influence a recruit but I don't think there's much to worry about in that regard with Frankamp. He's coming off of a year at KU, where I'm sure he experienced plenty of great crowds and several duds for buy games. His situation (with a year under his belt at the Phog) seems much different from your average high school prospect. I doubt he thought the showing for NCC was representative of what our fans bring when it matters.

This sucks. So he has played one year, right? And because he stayed at KU this past semester does that mean he only has 2 1/2 years left? He only gets 3 1/2 years of basketball?

The way I understood it, he has either 3 years of basketball eligibility or 2.5, depending on which route he takes with regard to sitting out. He could be eligible Spring semester 2015, or he could opt to sit out all of next season and play a full three seasons thereafter.

He's essentially in the same spot as Gregory Echenique was when he came here. The clock gets pushed back, because he already enrolled and started classes at Kansas, so whether or not he was in games, he was on scholarship for this school year.

It isn't the worst thing, though. He can come here early, play in practice and work hard on his S&C and be prepared to play in pretty much all of our conference schedule.
