Great article on Malik. All the Best for him at Bowling Green.

We backed off a few months ago. Bigger priorities arose (Morgan, McQuaid, Clarke, etc.) and demanded more attention. Unfortunately we couldn't land the majority of them.
Perhaps the 3/4s currently on the roster (Huff, Gilmore, Harrell, and Hegner) also really impressed once they arrived on Campus this summer and made Schwartz and his skill set unnecessary.
SJSU was one of the teams that came on as we turned our attention away. Hope Cody does well at SJSU.
I still believe that Cody could have been a very good addition to this team. Really liked his game (from the little I saw of it).

We weren't really recruiting Schwartz anymore. In fact, most of the bigger schools that offered cooled on him. He went from having us and Marquette really involved, and Wisconsin interested and then backing off, to having Saint Joes and Washington State offer, to randomly committing to San Jose State. Obviously the bigger schools saw something they didn't like, otherwise there is no explanation as to why a kid from Wisconsin would choose to play for a random mid major school in California that represented one of his least impressive offers.

Feels like recruiting has really quieted down for this fall with practice beginning and the two major needs (PF/C and PG) taken care of. It appears that we are waiting on Chris Clarke to decide before moving forward. A few other targets are still out there (Jordan Murphy, Corey Johnson, Jalen Poyser, etc.), but they aren't nearly as highly regarded or ranked as Clarke.
I think the most likely scenario is filling the last two scholarships in the spring with either two transfers or a transfer and a graduate transfer, late signer, or maybe even a JUCO.

Question: Will there be a recruiting update soon? Or at least by December?

not too much to report as of right now. Coaches turning focus toward season right now. Hoping for Clarke, after that it gets a bit thin

That's what I assumed, but I thought I would ask anyway. Thanks Hilltop.

I love the "all in" quality of the coaches decision with respect to Clarke. If we get him we have a great recruiting class in the fall. If not, we don't panic, we assess options and plan and set the table for the spring.
