Having 247 say someone is committing to Creighton has been akin to the Sports Illustrated jinx. I prefer they predict recruits are gong to commit elsewhere. At least then I feel like we have a fighting chance.

You know how the 247 thing works? Pundits get points for being right and lose points for being wrong, but there's not much of a penalty for flip flopping. Also, the earlier you pick, the more points you gain by being right. If you make a pick late you dont get much of anything.

Many of the CU picks were really old, from prior to McQ accepting SMU's offer. Those guys had a lot to gain if he picked us, but a Michigan State pick wouldnt have been worth much at all. I'm guessing they rode their luck to see if they could land a nice score with us if it were to go our way.

I'll also add that their "experts" copy each other quite a bit. I'd bet that one of the three picked to Tennessee and the other two followed him.

Having followed internet recruiting since it's inception I would disagree pretty strongly that 247 is the best site. There is little fresh there and as you state they are a copycat group.

Eh, I think folks would disagree with that. 247 is updated very frequently. They've been on top of a number of stories way before other sites have. And their composite rankings are the best ranking tool available. But no ranking service is perfect.

Regarding the Crystal Ball: it's not always accurate. However, they have a list of the most accurate guys have been in the past. Jerry Meyer, who runs 247, is on top of his stuff and is very well plugged-in. He picked Clarke to go to Tennessee yesterday. That's a bit concerning. But I'll be honest, I never thought we really had any sort of shot with the kid. The fact that we got a visit, IMO, was because we had been recruiting him for a long time and he visited as a courtesy. But I really hope I'm wrong. He'd have an immediate impact here.

Also, the Crystal Ball is usually really accurate based on the most recent picks. The thing with a lot of the recruits, is that analysts submit their picks months and months and months before a commitment is announced, and they fail to update the pick, so their pick was based on old information. That's where many of the inaccuracies come into play.

I feel the same way. The only chance I think we had was to get him to commit during his visit. Obviously that didn't happen.
It's hard not to feel a little down right now as we have lost out on almost all of our top targets. I feel more and more that we will either end up with a JUCO or hold out until Spring for a transfer (not that that is bad, but a bit disappointing considering what we could have had).
However, we have managed to fill our needs at PG and C, so that is certainly a win.

I wouldn't be too down yet. There are some things that could still happen.

In the way too much information category, the three that picked Clarke to Tennessee have 2015 (player recruiting year) accuracy rates of 81%, 76% and 76%. Hopefully this particular pick will lower these percentages.

I don't understand 'what we could have had'. To me, we have gotten exactly what we could have had, especially if you believe the staff has done its all.

What situation could have delivered more?

For all I know those 247 guys have some valuable information. It could also be just that he was planning on going on four visits, he has taken three and not committed after any of those three. They may be basing a prediction on the idea that if he was going to commit to the other three schools he would have done so already.

I have no idea what's going on, but that would be a reasonable reason to toss a guess at Tennessee now.

I certainly wasn't trying to slight to staff. They have worked very hard and have gotten to top prospects very early. Worked hard for us to even be considered.
By "what we could have had" I was simply meaning that we had extended a ton of offers to great players who just decided to go elsewhere.
