I realize MSU is a great program and Izzo is a hall of fame coach but if Mcquaid can put on some weight he should get plenty of minutes from the get go in Omaha. Not sure he could say the same in East Lansing.

I think that their reasoning for MSU being the leader is that MSU is the bigger program and Creighton is relatively nobody to worry about and blah blah blah. Hope we land Matt, it's looking pretty good in my opinion

It very well could be the case that our chances are being discredited by people (a) unaccustomed to seeing us seriously compete with really big programs for a recruit, and/or (b) who assume that if a recruit is picking between MSU and CU, he’s going to choose MSU. Or, there may be more substance to the rumors. I’ve only seen some of the comments on the MSU 247 board. Kind of looks like the source of the rumors is the MSU Rivals site and board (pay sites). No idea if the actual basis for the current rumor is any different or better than the rumor that someone thought Barnes was backing away because he thought McQuaid was likely to choose MSU. I would think that if there was real traction there, you’d see some evidence on the 247 Crystal Ball, as some of those guys are pretty quick to make or change a prediction based on any new evidence or hunches they have. Message board guys sometimes know what they're talking about, but false recruiting alarms are par for the course on boards. After all, there have been individuals with more knowledge than most of us who have let it recently be known that they think CU is in the lead. None of that is to say that the McQuaid to MSU rumor is definitely unfounded.
My question for hilltopalum or anyone else in the know would be whether the “greatness” of the official and in-home visits was predicated on a realistic hope that McQuaid might chose CU before he was scheduled to go to East Lansing, or if the staff well knew that he was going to make the trip, but still felt like he was plenty likely to go there and then choose CU? Cause if it’s the former, then our odds do seem significantly lower than they were a week ago. But, if I remember the timing correctly, he met with Izzo a day or two before he met with Mac. So, it kind of seems unlikely to me that at the time Mac met with him, McQuaid or his family would have indicated anything other than that McQuaid planned on going to East Lansing and maybe elsewhere, and then making his choice at some time thereafter.

not sure it's a matter of relaxing. it's college basketball. actually, it's not even college basketball, it's college basketball recruiting. pretty minor stuff. and, if McQuaid's not a Bluejay, others will be (any maybe Zierden can come back strong, get some consistency on his shot, show serious improvement, and kind of be our Phil Forte), and our team will either continue to flourish under Mac, or eventually someone else will get a try at guiding the team. all in all, it's a minor part of everyone's lives bar the staff and players.
but, within this little niche world of Creighton basketball recruiting, McQuaid has been priority #1 for this staff since he opted out of his verbal SMU commit. Clarke's a huge deal, too, and I would be thrilled if he chose CU, but his recruitment has always been perceived as more of an uphill battle. anyway, it's obvious that the staff has gone all in attempting to sell CU to McQuaid and his family (check out some of the staff follows on twitter if you have any doubt). if it may be a foregone conclusion that he's going to pick MSU, it would be worth knowing now rather than holding on to the blind optimism that is so unwarranted in many of these cases.

I know that. My brief statement was intended to convey optimism.
