Based on this spin, McQuaid's a higher priority for the Spartans than he was before MSU lost a couple of recent recruiting battles.

Per hilltop and others, it sounds like we're in good shape. But, I think we'll all be a little nervous if we're sitting here a week from now without a McQuaid commitment.

Given that Ellenson is a heavy Marquette lean, MSU may be looking at two targets for two scholarships, meaning they put the full court press on for Matt.

Yep, at least that's what their source is telling guys like the Free Press beat writer. Hopefully the longevity of our staff's relationship counts for something. And the facts that one of their two current commits is a SG and Eron Harris is Izzo's man at the 2 for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.

Martez Walker situation is ugly and will throw a ugly cloud over Texas Bball. (Please no one tweet this to Matt)

No I don't but my line of thought is this dude is going to get kicked off the team and now there will be more playing time available. That could be more attractive to McQuaid or someone else that Texas and Mich St are both looking at and now Mich St starts going harder after McQuaid. Just a possibility.

MSU board on 247 reporting that some dude from Rivals is saying that Texas has removed themselves from recruiting Matt.

However according to the same post the Rivals guy says its because Barnes thinks he's headed to Mich St.

Neither Texas or MSU have good basketball message boards. Most of what I found was sparsely populated subsections of football boards. It's hard to find good info on the nitty gritty of a program's recruiting without a well run message board

Either the Rivals guy said that or he didn't. I don't subscribe to Rivals and it's not on that guy's Twitter feed; I was just adding what was posted.

After all of the visit to UT talk, I guess he didn't even head to Austin, then?

Not sure how much it is worth caring about what a Michigan State Rivals guy says regarding Rick Barnes' supposed thoughts about McQuaid's landing spot (even assuming there is truth to UT backing out due to a feeling that McQuaid was unlikely to choose UT, which seems less likely than Barnes backing off because one or two other high priority guards are leaning towards picking UT, it seems plenty likely that any Barnes concern was less team specific than it was simply the assumption that McQuaid was not going to pick UT), but I guess it's as newsworthy as looking at McQuaid's twitter account or following 247 crystal ball predictions.

If McQuaid wants to have a strong chance to be a key cog of a team from day one, he'll choose us (checking out the MSU 247 message board after your post, I saw that the Spartans faithful agree that he's not likely to get much playing time there for awhile). If not, the bigger program might win out.

I will continue to be moderately optimistic until I hear talk about another SG getting a CU offer or planning a visit to CU.
