Gophers scholarship might not be open because the kid is enrolling in some language program and may be admitted for second semester. They could only offer a first semester scholarship.

In Big East news, Wojo, in year one, is set up to land the best recruiting class in Marquette history. With Cheatam's commitment yesterday, 247Sports has them as the #11 class nationally, and they have three top 100 commits. With it looking more and more likely they land Ellenson, that's going to be a top-5 class, maybe higher. That's huge news for the league, and probably a trend we can expect to continue at MU. Wojo was responsible for a ton of the biggest recruits Duke landed while he was there.

Getting Ellenson would be a big eye opener for the Big East.

I have faith in this staff and their ability to find and lock down players that fit our needs. Would like to see those names pop up soon as commitments. Come on Mr. McQuaid lets get it started.

As far as officials go, the only future visits we still have scheduled are Clarke and Robinson, correct?

In other news, its sounds as if Jalen Brunson, the #2 PG in the class (#1 PG by ESPN) and top 15 player, is going to commit to Villanova. The conference as a whole is certainly continuing it's momentum from last year on the recruiting trail. That's great to see.

I think that is right, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a visit with Galen Robinson (and maybe some other PGs) pop up soon.

With all of the dominoes falling, and with the coaches allowed to hit the road again, I imagine that we'll be hearing more info soon. I try to stay away from recruiting hyperbole. But, McQuaid is SO important to this class. Maybe we can pull a rabbit out of the hat with Clarke. Maybe a guy like Robinson or Hudson becomes a more realistic possibility (I feel like we may have put too many eggs in the G. Watson basket, as he always seemed like a strong non-CU lean, whether it was Purdue several months ago or Nebraska, once they got involved).

But, if there is no McQuaid, this class, on paper, will not be what is needed to rebuild and keep up with the Big East's upper echelon. Not that such things are necessarily determinative of on-court success, but a visible continued influx of high-level talent is badly needed after losing 4 guys last season and 5 this season (with a couple of the remaining guys less than certain to ever produce much at this level). Circumstances considered, 2014 was a fantastic recruiting year for shaping the post-Doug era. But, McQuaid and Clarke are the only remaining 2015 targets who are more likely than not to be difference makers, and we’re much better positioned with McQuaid than Clarke. Patton, McQuaid and one or two other HS guys is about what we need to compete with Nova, Marquette and Georgetown. Patton and two or three of our second, third or fourth tier of targets guys is not.

Where do you see Khiry Thomas fitting in and would you consider him to be a strong contender for that backup guard position? He seems to be D1 talent from an athletic perspective. I agree as well that McQuaid is a must get for this group to compete with the upper half of the Big East.
