With all of the dominoes falling, and with the coaches allowed to hit the road again, I imagine that we'll be hearing more info soon. I try to stay away from recruiting hyperbole. But, McQuaid is SO important to this class. Maybe we can pull a rabbit out of the hat with Clarke. Maybe a guy like Robinson or Hudson becomes a more realistic possibility (I feel like we may have put too many eggs in the G. Watson basket, as he always seemed like a strong non-CU lean, whether it was Purdue several months ago or Nebraska, once they got involved).
But, if there is no McQuaid, this class, on paper, will not be what is needed to rebuild and keep up with the Big East's upper echelon. Not that such things are necessarily determinative of on-court success, but a visible continued influx of high-level talent is badly needed after losing 4 guys last season and 5 this season (with a couple of the remaining guys less than certain to ever produce much at this level). Circumstances considered, 2014 was a fantastic recruiting year for shaping the post-Doug era. But, McQuaid and Clarke are the only remaining 2015 targets who are more likely than not to be difference makers, and we’re much better positioned with McQuaid than Clarke. Patton, McQuaid and one or two other HS guys is about what we need to compete with Nova, Marquette and Georgetown. Patton and two or three of our second, third or fourth tier of targets guys is not.
