Just saw a clip of Chimezie Metu. He just moved up my wish list. We are in on some great players. I can't wait to see who we get. This class could be great. Go Jays!

Is there an in-depth article available about how recruiting works? I am sure that coaching staffs have priority lists and I wonder if they hold out until they know whether #1 or #2 is coming before taking #33? Is it first-come, first-serve?

I for 1 am loving how hard this staff is working. In-home visits galore, kids scheduled to visit the Hilltop, battling across the boards on both late 2014 and 2015 kids. Great work - should bear some fruit. :)

Big AAU weekend for the Staff. Hope they get to see everyone that going after. I'd think May will have alot of visits. Who will be the first to commit for the 2015 Class?

Two CU targets Jimmy Whitt and Kevin Puryear played well for the Jayhawk Invitational champs:

Run GMC’s top college prospect is Jimmy Whitt, a 6-2 junior point guard from Hickman High in Columbia, Mo., who is ranked No. 74 in the recruiting Class of 2015. The tourney’s official website indicated Whitt averaged 15.8 ppg in the six wins.

A major target of Arkansas, Whitt also is being recruited by Kansas State, SMU, Colorado, Creighton and others.

“I think this weekend was a statement. It definitely is going to help him as he moves forward,” Goolsby said of Whitt playing so well in front of hordes of college coaches. “He can score off the bounce, catch and shoot it. He handles it well, makes plays for others. He’s really a good athlete, too.”

Another college prospect is Kevin Puryear, a 6-7, 205-pound junior power forward from Blue Springs (Mo.) South who averaged 12.3 ppg in the tourney. Puryear is being recruited by Oklahoma State, Creighton, San Francisco, Miami of Ohio, Kansas State, San Diego and Wichita State.

“Kevin is a monster, really,” Goolsby said. “He can score around the rim, but he can step out and shoot it. He can put it on the floor and make plays. He causes mismatch problems, especially at the 4-spot. He can face you up but also is physical enough to take smaller guys to the block and take advantage of it.”

With 2014 recruiting done (maybe?), looks like there will be 4 scholarships to fill for 2015. Just based on the roster, I would think the coaching staff would be looking to get a PG, SG, PF and C. The top targets from what I've gathered are probably Alex Illikainen and Matt McQuaid among others. Both Top 100 players. The realistic goal would probably be to get one of them. Home run would be both and it would be disappointing if we got neither. What are your thoughts?

I'd like to see us land big guard who can get to the rim. Harris,James,Clarke, and Mann all fit that bill, anyone of them would be nice. To cut that 2015 list of recruits to 4 will be tough. Go Jays!

A small plea as we follow 2015 recruiting.

Prepare yourself now that some targets are going to go somewhere else. We only have 4 rides and about a billion targets. Therefore mathematically, most of our targets will go somewhere not named Creighton. It is not the end of the world if someone you read about on the internet chooses a different school. We have lots of targets and while one guy may be a great talent and would be nice to have, there are other targets that may turn out to be just as good or a better fit with our roster. Early commits of some targets always get people worked up and bring out doom and gloomers. I hope the 2014 class and the transfers give people a little more hesitation about hitting the panic button until later in the year.

Many kids do not commit until late summer. They can't officially sign until the early signing period which starts on the second Wednesday in November and runs for 1 week. As we have seen already this year.....things change in a hurry. Our staff is working hard and we are in on A LOT of talented kids.

Go Jays.
