How the heck is a kid that's 6'8, with the potential to grow more, not getting more attention on a national scale? Not that I'm complaining, but with his seemingly solid upbringing combined with his physical gifts, he could be quite the steal. Excited to see him in a Jays uniform.

Leon didn't get that much attention nationally because one he didn't start AAU until summer going into 9th grade. He played on what they call a local team DGib Hoops in Houston. He tried out for those Nike Sponsored teams but at the time they didn't want him because he didn't have a ranking or wasnt popular local player. He blew up over night, grew 3 inches in one summer, I fought to get him into the right camps so that he could get that exposure. The politics involved are crazy. Its all about who you know in Houston. Then when those Nike team's came running, I fought them. I said No because I didn't like how they did their business. I wanted my son to prove to everyone that he deserved to be at those camps, deserved a spot on those teams, and could play with and against the best. It wasn't until his junior year that he decided to play on the Nike Houston Hoops Team. It had its good and bad. Good that he had some national exposure bad that he didn't get invited to camps because his team was loaded and those other players were going to go before him. He was over shadowed at times. I'm his mother so I may be a little bias but I'm just proud of my baby and he's been through a lot, I've been through a lot and I always said God must be taking me through all this for a reason. So I know in my heart my son will be successful in college and all those nay sayers and all those people who overlooked him will kick themselves in the butt and all those coaches who stopped recruiting him will never forgive themselves..lol

Well, I think it worked out for the best. He will have a degree from a great college and he'll get to play on national TV all the time. Our system fits his skill set, so I think it was a home run for everyone involved. I can't wait for him to be in a Jays uni.

We like players that have a bit of a chip on their shoulders (Dougie Mac is a prime example). I kept reading about his Nike team and all the writers would talk about how stacked that team was at the positions Leon would play and then after identifying the players receiving the "pub" rant about Leon. I hope he has a great senior season and look forward to watching him grow as a man and a player at CU.

It has worked out, for the best. Leon is a great player and a great young man. Here at Creighton he will continue his development: as a person, a man, and as a sportsman. No worries as Creighton provides a well rounded and complete education - centered around personal growth and service to others.
LG3 will get maximum exposure as a player - as all of CU's games are televised via FoxSports1 and other carriers.
He is in the right place. The Jays need his skillset, hustle, and heart to continue winning - even moreso now that we are in the Big East. Leon gets a great education and national exposure - Creighton gets a great player and student. Thank you.

Sounds like you have done an amazing job raising your son. Teaching him important values and a work ethic is the sort of thing that will allow him to go far in life.
