Seton Hall just got a commit from Isaiah Whitehead. Thats makes 2 Top 150 recruits for them. Like Freddy said, this next week is crucial to our recruiting efforts. If we don't land a few of our targets we will be quickly left behind in this conference.

I, for one, don't want to be battling for 8th place in 2 seasons

Note that Seton Hall gave Whitehead's high school coach an assistant position on the Seton Hall staff in order to secure his commitment.

Remind me again - what are the rules on hiring HS coaches and recruiting their players? I thought the NCAA implemented the 2 yr rule that prohibited this type of stuff?

Go figure. That's college basketball today. As long as the rules allow it, coaches will keep doing it

You can hire them to be one of the three allowed assistant positions, but no more creating titles, giving the dobo job, etc.

Just thought it was interesting. Nothing technically wrong with it, but thought it should be pointed out that Seton Hall didn't exactly get the commitment due to its program, facilities or academics.

Here's an article on Seton Hall's recruiting: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the ... ncaab.html

It turns out that hiring an assistant is not just how SH landed Whitehead, but also how it landed top 75 forward, Delgado. Sina, who they signed in April, was slightly more traditional - SH hired the assistant who got the kid to commit to Northwestern before Carmody was canned.

Either way, Whitehead is a top 25 recruit and the biggest 2014 Big East recruit to date. The Big East is killin' in on the recruiting scene for 2014. Every team has top 150 recruits for 2014 except us, Butler, St. John's and DePaul. We are gonna have to consistently land top 150 recruits to keep pace. Atleast the Big East will be a strong league, the question is will we be competitive or a bottom feeder.

Hello Bluejays,
Leon will be making decision by tomorrow. He's had three great visits all with great coaches. Once he makes his final decision, he will notify the coaches of the school's he didn't select first and inform them out of respect before he officially makes announcement. Thanks for your support.
