We're 'warm' with Jared Terrell. The others we're 'cool', and under Dastrup, Chukwu, Nairn, and Law we're not even on the list.

Now, that could mean that site doesn't know WTF it's talking about.

But this is kind of my point: there's been a lot of oohing and aahing going on in here and that's great and all, but if we don't land any of these big fish it'll be reminiscient of the mid- to late-00's under Dana where not only did we not land the bigger names we were in for we were late on a lot of the second tier names we could have gotten, and didn't get them either.

Agreed. But one thing is different now, we have a well known and proven recruiter on the staff. Hopefully he gets the job done

Since basically the 2014 class and all subsequent classes need to be an upgrade on what we were doing in the MVC, I strongly hope that our recruiting does not begin to resemble the late-Altman era recruiting. I also hope our 2013 guys have chips on their shoulder and end up being better than their rankings or non-rankings suggest (not that it matters, but I will remain optimistic about the group until there is some visible reason not to be). Regardless of what our current players do, I tend to think we need to sign one or two ranked 2014 kids to brace for life after Doug and just generally show the hoops world that Creighton is ready for the Big East. Jared Terrell or a consensus top-100 kid would be great. But, even a top 150 guy like Casey Benson would be a good step in the right direction.

This is almost exactly what I think. There's a ton of eye candy on the recruiting board these days and I really appreciate Hilltopalum's efforts, but if over the next two years we "just" wound up with Terrell, Ellenson, and 4-5 guys who are below 100 on (and subsequently aren't even listed on here yet) I'd be so thrilled I would just about have a stroke. But we ABSOLUTELY need one, and high quality types filling out the classes.

I hate sounding like a wet blanket but I feel we're getting ahead of ourselves on some of these guys. I know it's Gtmo, but over half of the guys he listed in his 'pecking order' post earlier in this thread have virtually no shot of being a Jay unless lightning strikes. It's fine to offer and try your damnedest to be in on them, but you almost have to act as if you're going to get shut out there.

Doug gave us a tremendous gift in staying, as it buys us a full year of recruiting before we're completely kicked out of the nest, as it were. I'm just praying we don't botch the whole thing in the process.

I would love for us to land a guy in that top 100 range, but last year's class should not be dismissed -- The 2013 class is the kind of class that will match up well against even our new conference. How many BE teams even got a Center, PF and a passing, shooting SF like we got? Not to mention two JUCO's who can play and contribute immediately?

Let's go out and land a dynamic scorer to fit into that bunch for next year, but recognize that last year's class was a really, really good class by just about any standards.

Our 2013 is a great class for MVC standards. We are the only school in the Big East that didn't have a top 150 player for 2013 (according to Rivals) so to say our class matches up with the Big East recruits is a little bit too much kool aid. I have high hopes for our class and really think Hegner can be a difference maker eventually but we definitely need to step up recruiting and now that we are in the Big East, I think we will.

The Pecking order post was mainly asking HilltopAlum to give us the coaches pecking order of all of these many recruits.

We have about 25 or so offers out there for 2014. Depending on the recruiting service you prefer, we have between a minimum of 4,
up to 8 or 9 recruits listed who are Top 100 types. Agree we need to close on at least 1 or 2, otherwise the resemblance to the DA efforts
will be amazing.

The Demery, Benson, Mike Williams, Taylor, Gilmore, Macura, Cohen, Norman, Cottrill type recruits are the 2-3-star level recruits we
normally see at the hilltop. Given we gained a few higher level recruits under DA - Lawson, P, Morrison, Bock, Echenique - with mixed results to
say the least.

The difference now (as was mentioned in an article comparing the Jays now to the 2003 Jays) is that Creighton has moved up to a major conference,
will be on Fox TV at least weekly, and the brand is widely known thanks to the McDermott's and will become better known in the BE. IMO we will not
be seeing DA-type years or 2013 ( going 0'fer regarding landing name recruits.) as a Big East member.

Ask and you shall receive. i'll be putting together a podcast next week detailing Creighton recruiting strategy for 2014 and 2015. I'll break down a pecking order and some of the under the radar kids Creighton really likes. We'll also hit on Women's basketball recruiting and maybe sprinkle in some Soccer. You know me!
