Yuck, what a POS tournament. Cal-Fullerton home court? WTF?!?! We didn't sign up for that. Not only is the "final mystery team to be added later" a yawner local bunch but you give them home games too. WTF twice!!!

They better give full first dibs to all seating to the visiting schools.

I'll be there and probably stay for the Long Beach State game the next week as well...

According to the scheduling board, it looks like Creighton is looking for a D-II opponent to play on Nov. 8th to open the season. I'm not a fan of that.

A lot of people will argue with me on this, but with 340+ D-I schools, you can't find 9 or 10 of those to play in the non-conference? Without the Bracketbusters this year, there is an extra game to use. They should take advantage of that. I know the Big East will be a different animal this year, but I think with Doug still around, they need to play as many big games as possible. Take advantage of the exposure and take advantage of giving fans something exciting to start the season as a member of the Big East. There is no reason at all right now to already "Big Time" it. There is no guarantee that the Big East will automatically give a strength of schedule/RPI boost. Yes, it appears so, but let's have a packed schedule.

For the most part, agreed. However, a quirk in the RPI is that playing against D2 competition does not factor into the formula so instead of playing against a sub-300 RPI team, this in theory makes sense from an RPI perspective. Obviously, if the opportunity to play a decent BCS school comes up, then that's an ideal setup. But if that's not an option, then this isn't the worst idea ever.

Rather than a DII team, why not just try to get UNO. At least it is a D1 game if worse comes to worse.

It is worse, because its an RPI hit, a DII school isn't.

I know what you're saying, wildjays, and I don't disagree in theory. Playing a DII school instead of a decent team -- a team with a sub-200 RPI -- is stupid. Maybe they can't find a team in that range, though. If their other option is a team like Presbyterian or Longwood (or UNO), aka 300+ RPI ankle weights, then they might as well schedule a DII school that won't affect the RPI in any negative way.

This early in the process, though, it seems like they could find *someone* a little higher on the food chain...

How about south or north Dakota state? They are usually semidecent. D2 teams are meant for exhibitions.

Maybe the staff thinks we lost a lot of talent from last year, and our schedule is already going to be very tough, so let's get some confidence builders (while still being non-RPI killers) on the docket?

We have Doug, but we also have a lot of new guys. Might be prudent to get a game or two on the schedule where we can kick some ass early on.
