IMO – I agree that CU may raise prices just because its time to raise prices, admittedly I don't know when the last ticket increase was. However, I don't see any increase as being substantial if it were to happen.
What I would suspect is that the athletic department appeals to the lower bowl ticketholder for an increased annual "donation" to maintain the preferred seating. The practice is common in many packed venues and when you can't just charge your core group of rabid supporters willing to come down in droves out of the building, its likely they "ask" those who we'd most all agree, have the better seats to offer a little more as a first option.
Especially now, with the current excitement, a team / program worth paying to see, and better competition soon to be visiting the CLink on a regular basis I can see them asking this group to pony up a bit more first. I've read much criticism of the corporate or country club set in the lower level, which is fine as its harmless and I'm sure not in the high end group, but I am certain this group pays a lot of money for the right to receive that criticism, that helps keep my upper level seats affordable..As they are normally the first resource the University seeks dollar increase requests from.
