At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

FWIW, my understanding of the NCAA waiver process came from the “Big Z” situation with Kentucky last year. One of the national podcasts said something along the lines of the NCAA process is normally cut and dry, but the number of waivers the last few years has risen significantly and the NCAA processes them in the order received.

This is for all sports, there’s not a “oh big basketball brand” and “other sport” folder, they all go into one system and the NCAA goes through each and every waiver request. The good news is that the whole how many games did he play/will he be eligible isn’t so much in question. He almost certainly will be ruled eligible. The issue is where exactly does Fedor fall in that pile of requests and is the NCAA still understaffed compared to last year?

For context, Big Z signed with Kentucky on August 14th and was ruled eligible on January 20th. Fedor signed with Creighton on August 23rd. Does that mean his first game will be after January 20th? Not necessarily, but don’t hold your breath that we’re going to see any news on his situation during the non con.

Ok that provides some clarity. It will be nice to have him earlier but it’s good to have a timeframe.

I think any of the U18 or U19 stuff is separate from playing for the main club (I didn't count any of those games for Fedor pr his total would be much higher too). I counted 169 games there across 6 games. Ivisic is definitely more of a direct comparison for Fedor than guys like Demin and Jakucionis.

Got it. Well I suppose I can thank Fedor for forcing me to learn something new about Eurohoops every damn week.

Hodge’s didn’t complete enough high school credits.

The CreighTakes guys seem to think there is a good chance Fedor gets approved by the NCAA within a week. If not approved by 12/7 CU might appeal. (21 minute mark is discussion on Fedor)

Florida today got NCAA clearance for their Zugic-like Euro guard, Urban Klavzar. He played three pro seasons in Slovenia, had a cup of coffee with Real Madrid and even played a little college ball for some university in Spain. He has to classify as a sophomore. A small price to pay to get a green light. He's missed three games, but he's in the lineup tonight against Fla St.

The Florida coach said there's a lot of guys "in this circumstance". He also said "he's not going to be your normal freshman. He'll help us right away".

If the NCAA's on the "K"s, how long till they get to the "Z"s? Could that be the problem, that they're doing it alphabetically? Maybe if he was Fedor Anderson, he'd be playing by now.
