Didn’t want to start a new thread - apparently, SWMOST (Missouri State) is moving out of the Valley to Conference USA in 2025? The Valley keeps sinking.

Right...the guy who made $4M a year, at a University that generates $128M a year in athletic revenue and plays in a 15,000 seat, on campus arena, is frustrated that the kids are getting a slice of the pie. It's the end of the world as we know it...

I think this was announced in May...they want to play FBS football, which isn't an option in the Valley.

It absolutely is the end of college athletics as we know it.

No, probably not the end of the world... but it probably will be the end of Cinderella. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. There needs to be some regulation of this. In general, I am against regulations. But there are cases where they are needed.. and this is one of them. Maybe he's thinking about the "for the good of the game" part of this. Amateurism is dying... and I think that's kind of sad.

You know what would have preserved amateurism? Keeping capitalism out of college sports. That toothpaste left the tube in the (70s?).

Basketball is what's maintaining the NCAA's image of old. NCAA ceases to exist if the P5 splits off and starts their own postseasons basketball tournament. What is the downstream consequence to the rest of the olympic sports?

Regardless, the NCAA deserves all the blame for today's wild west of player compensation. And I'm glad, and fairly surprised, that we have a coach who has wholly bought into the new way of achieving success.

Amateurism exists… in D3, NAIA, NCCAA ball etc.

A modicum... And we'll see how long that persists.

I may have missed this post somewhere, but figured it was an "offseason" move so this would be as good a spot as any ... are we going to acknowledge the death of the Bud Bar?!? Again, maybe I missed it on a different thread, but seeing the huge Mich Ultra painted over there was a tad jarring.

Also it's kinda crazy how many more courtside, high-roller seats they got in there simply by removing some tables. Wonder how the site lines are down there for anyone not in the front row. And they removed more tables across from the bench too, 1620 is now broadcasting next to the CU bench.

The worst part about the extra court-side seats is I lose my stats on the ribbons. They don't do a good job on the Jumbo Tron since the side squares are advertising. I just feel having my phone out to Gocreighton is a pain. A pain that I will have to get used to I guess.

Yep. TV is still at center court opposite the benches. Home and road radio crews are at the scorers' table next to their respective benches now, instead of next to the TV guys. And all other media is way upstairs in the hockey press box.

I remember the days when print/online media were courtside and Rob used to run printed off boxscores to us during every timeout! A lot more demand for that real estate now :D
