Trey is on a two way contract. That means he gets paid about $600k and could be up and down between the parent team and the G league affiliate.

He has done well considering that he wasn’t drafted.

So in hind site many including me felt he would have made more $$ staying another year at CU. Probably not true?

He’s also dedicating himself to his craft, getting acclimated to the NBA, and landed in what seems to be a great spot.

Would we have paid him a little more to stay? Probably.

He's one of three two-way players listed on the Nuggets roster. Spencer Jones and PJ Hall are the other two. NBA teams can carry 15 regular contracts and 3 two-way contracts during the regular season, which is what the Nuggets now have listed on their website. In that sense, Trey has made the roster. If I remember correctly, he's limited to 50 NBA games that he can play under the two-way contract before they'd have to convert it to a regular contract and pay him the prorated league minimum.

Congrats to Baylor and Trey for making their NBA debuts last night. Baylor with 4 points and Trey with a rebound.

Possibly true. But for Trey, I think it was more about the dream than the paycheck. Some 21-year olds don't want to be in college anymore. So, if he could have made a little more at Creighton, but would be distracted by classes and being a college student - maybe not the right fit for his plans/goals. Now, he can commit 100% of his life to basketball. And while CU's facilities, coaches, training, etc. are top notch, my guess is an NBA teams' are even topper notch.

I'm doubting he has any regrets, even if may have left a bit of money on the table. Denver's biggest weakness is shooting. While he's not a sniper, I'd take him in a 3-point contest over Westbrook. I'm hoping he can carve out a role. Love watching our guys succeed!

At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.
