Yes, many things would have to go just right in addition to winning out for Creighton to have a shot to host regionals, I was hoping for better from a couple of Creighton's non-conference opponents too. Kansas State is 2-7 and has an unofficial RPI of >200.
2022 San Diego went 27-1 with 2 top 10 RPI wins (Pitt & Ohio State) with their lone loss being at Louisville (#2 RPI) and they ended up with the # 5 overall seed. San Diego's RPI going into the selection show was #6.
2018 BYU had better luck. They went 27-1 with wins over #1, #10, and #15 RPI teams with their only loss being against LMU to end their regular season. They were 5th in RPI going into the selection show and received the #4 overall seed over Texas (#3 RPI)
