Creighton took over the net and Goetzinger went off in set 3. Hopefully Creighton can sustain this momentum.

Tell me if this sounds familiar:

On the road against a top 10 team. Really looking overmatched for the first two sets and pretty comfortably handled by the home team to dig an 0-2 hole -- not getting solid contact to cause issues with return, getting absolutely smacked on shots that the Jays can't return, etc.

Third set looks totally like two different teams, and the Jays steamroll to a 25-10 set win to show some life.

Why can't they come out in these kind of games from the start like they seem to when they have dug an 0-2 hole? They looked fantastic in that third set and made Louisville look like a totally different opponent than the first two sets. It was impressive.

Do they have it in them to do that again? And again?

Just took sets 3&4 at #4 in a combined 50-25 rout.

Jays looking great. Hopefully a different set 5 outcome tonight.

Still early -- but fifth set looks like a complete reversal again and back to how the first two sets looked, just like earlier in the week at Nebraska. Lousiville destroying balls, Jays unable to get enough force to finish or get past blocks, etc. On an incredible roll with momentum through sets three and four, and then an immediate hole to start the shortened set five.

Come on -- reset and play this set like the third and fourth. Please.

EDIT: Right now it's 11-4. Amazing how totally different sets three and four were to one, two, and this one. Absolutely nothing going even remotely right for Creighton in set five, kind of like nothing went right in set one and little did in set two. Bummer.

So good in sets 3 and 4 but can't finish once again. Hopefully they can find a way to finish one of these next week. They'll square off against undefeated Purdue and Kansas who should both be in the top 10 in tomorrow's poll.

How. How do they play as they did in the 3rd and 4th sets and collapse in the 5th? I'm sick and tired of this stupid trend. For once I want them to get over the hump and beat a top-ranked team. Is it a coaching thing?

I'm way more bothered by the other trend -- starting matches like this totally outmatched for the first two sets and then coming to life and dominating to force a fifth, before collapsing. Come out ready to play like they are doing in the third set from the start and maybe they don't have to battle all the way back and desperately try to break the fifth set curse in the first place.

It's happen repeatedly against Nebraska now, and that's now three straight five set losses to Louisville, I think.

This team is so damn good and looks like a national title contender in those third and fourth sets against both Nebraska and Louisville. And not so much in the other sets of those matches. Feels like they are so close -- really need to break through one of these times.

Creighton's block looked dominant in sets 3 and 4 and absent in the other 3 sets. Monster matches for the two transfers today. Elena Scott made it difficult for Norah and Ava to put the ball down.

I have been waiting for years for them to break through. So far, it ain't looking good. It's so, so, frustrating to see this happen. I get that it's early... But damn, these losses must be so demoralizing.
