Slow start with a lot of uncharacteristic errors but loved to see the Jays elevate their play in sets 3&4. Wish they could have carried some momentum from set 4 but they dug themselves into an early hole. Played the rest of set 5 fairly evenly but the damage was done from the early Nebraska run.

Norah and Ava definitely rose to the occasion. Got great play from the backcourt too.

Same story. Tired of losing to them. Honestly, I would not mind if we paused the series just to take a break from losing to them every year. Can't no show in the first two sets and expect to win. Dont know if we will have a better chance to beat them with how loaded the team is this year. Need a strong weekend and return to the drive for the final four.

Very similar to what happened two years ago. They never seem to get it done. The weird part about this game was that I had higher hopes given how loaded CU is.

We played AT Nebraska in 2023 and AT Nebraska in 2024. Previously, we had been alternating years between Omaha and Lincoln. Why was the match played in Lincoln, again, this year?

We were down 23-20 in the 3rd I think and pushed it to five sets. That’s pretty gutsy.

They played in Omaha in 2021 and 2022 so they played in Lincoln the last 2 matches to make up for it. Nebraska wanted to play in Omaha in 2022 since the final 4 was in Omaha that season.

The short answer, I think, is that we do whatever they want us to do for the honor of playing them. We play games in Omaha, but only at CHI where their fan base can make it a home game in Omaha for them, we adjust years and cities when they want to. Not a ton unlike us playing in Lincoln two years in a row because of COVid and then wanting it.

It was gutsy and says a lot about how close we have come to be as a program to push to five sets yet again. It also says a lot that the script is pretty much always the same, no matter how loaded we seem or how much momentum we seem to bring in — dig a hole by dropping the first two, gutsy battle back to push to five, huge hole to start the fifth, unable to overcome and finish. Almost feels like you could write it before they play.

Was really, really, really high level volleyball and very entertaining. Hopefully very little impact from losing, and hopefully reset and win against Louisville and keep getting better toward a historic postseason this year. The team is so good and has so much potential this year that this could really be it for new heights. Fingers crossed.

Breissinger had the 2nd best passing numbers of any P4 or top 25 DS/libero last week. For reference, 0 is an error and 3 is perfect.

Nothing but admiration for the way they picked themselves off the floor and battled the rest of the way like cornered wolverines. Or, cougars or panthers. (I can't think of an animal that isn't already somebody else's mascot). A stirring, never-quit win in a super-extended, epic, who-wants-it-more 3rd set, absolute domination in the 4th set where we made them look like UNO instead of UNL and, even with the tank on empty, gamely competing in the 5th.

But back to my earlier theme. It's high time we stop giving them a true home game, serving ourselves up as the evening's entree. Nobody wins down there. I've never been so I don't know how truly intimidating it is, but clearly they have a massive edge down there and we really need to stop giving it to them. They're the only team in this series that gets true home court. It's a lopsided, one-sided advantage that they don't deserve. We're not some damn buy team.

Play every year at CHI. Even that's a major concession on our part, but that should be the extent of it. At least we can get our own fans in the building, even if they're greatly outnumbered. And we don't have to get on some damn bus and make a semi-annual pilgrimage to Lincoln, like we're paying tribute to them or something. And if they say, "no, no. We just can't agree to something like that", then, fine, they just paused the series. But why would they? Tbh, this has become a sure-fire win for them against a ranked team. Half their fanbase is in Omaha, and they get on a bus every year to play an exhibition in Grand Island anyway, which is farther.

Creighton's Ath Dept is far too accommodating to that school in Lincoln. We rule the state in basketball, both genders, we've owned their asses in baseball (admittedly, this coming season's prospects don't look quite so bright), and we'll do just fine in VB without them. They should hope to be our equal in athletics, not the other way around. Just stop giving them a home advantage in this series they don't deserve and, looking at it from their pov, they don't even really need.

Syd got off to a slow start (hangover from last Louisville match?) but has gotten better every match since. Her 17 digs last night included a number of highlight reel plays.

As for the CU-NU series, I agree that it should either be neutral site or else we alternate at Sokol (sold out season tickets this year, so NU fans aren't gonna fill the place.) We've played UNO at Baxter a couple of times, so why can't NU play here?

The lopsided series is hardly a surprise. How many top 5 teams lose at home, especially with a sellout crowd? The CHI games might as well be home games for them too. I saw a VB site had CU's chances of winning at 12%. We have a better chance this week at Louisville, since it will be at a half-filled Yum Center, but road wins over top 5 programs are rare. In addition, we've only been a ranked program for about a decade, so those earlier teams had about 0% chance of winning in Devaney.
