It suggests Fedor as 6th man and Jackson McAndrew 7.

Traudt ahead of King at backup center.

I don't really see it shaking out that way exactly, but it's really hard to predict this year. Lots of newcomers with very high talent levels (including a few with lots of experience), and while Mac's played some deeper benches in the past it's hard to predict he'll send out 8 or 9 deep nightly, but that may be the plan also.

Add in a tough early schedule where Mac may go with the guys he knows early, but then shake things up as the season goes on, and we may see very different rotations from start to finish even. With departures there are around 30 shots a game for whoever steps up, though, so lots of opportunity out there

Yes. It’s a bit difficult to buy into the writers scenario. I don’t think we’ll see Frosh as the 6-7th men, especially when Green, Traudt, Knox know the system. That could change as the season progresses and the Frosh have acclimated to the game. It’s good to see an outsiders POV. Great post Chicagojay, some spot on points.

I agree with Mr. Harvey. Green was playing nearly starter minutes and in crunch time towards the end of the year, I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts. I’m not giving up on Miller though either.

Have to agree with GTMO that our freshmen seem to be on the outside looking in, rotation-wise. This is a good, experienced team with high expectations. Not like our teams in the past 6-7 years that relied on freshmen by necessity (17-18 TSA and Ballock, 21-22 the phenom trio).

I feel the closest freshman to any sort of role is LJ due to his physical profile. McAndrew may be closer just by his shooting ability. It's all pretty much speculation until we hear something more definitive out of practice or see live action.

Also agree that Green appears to be the frontrunner to start at the 4 based on his upward trend in minutes to close out last year, and Miller's injury.

You either work them in or they’ll be in the portal after the season in today’s college basketball.

I think the frosh will get worked in regularly, if not for huge minutes.

While Green will have his shot, I think it will depend on who else is on the floor. If Neal wins the job at the 3, then it's hard to put another < 30% 3 PT shooter at Forward along side him, and FWIW

Green vs Oregon 18 minutes, Green vs. Tennessee 19 minutes
Miller vs Oregon 25 minutes, Miller vs. Tennessee 19 minutes

So I don't think Miller's getting beaten out automatically, although, Zugic will be competing as well as Traudt. Minutes and shots will be competitive all season, IMO

The guys who play will be the ones who have gained Mac’s trust. Not sure this will ever change. Hard to tell who that is from the outside. I’m gonna guess it’s going to take a while for that to happen with Zugic. I think it is happening with Green based on his minutes in the tournament last year. Can’t even guess with McAndrew and Johnson. Traudt is not there yet based on his decreased minutes. Miller is there and is likely to return as the starter when he’s ready, unless someone passes him on the trust tower. Most likely Green.

Anyway, from a fan’s view, there are options and opportunities for these guys. We do “look”, on paper at least, to have more depth than years past .How much trust there is remains to be seen.

Players have to earn minutes and there isn't room for all 13 to get the minutes the players or fans want them to have. There will be at least 3 or 4 players that will stay sitting on the bench almost every game. You always play to win today instead of winning tomorrow by sacrificing a game. Anything more than a 8-9 man rotation in big games could mean losing more games. We should have enough blowouts early in the season for everyone to get minutes but it stops there.

SI thinks Fedor “could immediately be one of the best players in college basketball” Pretty high praise.

I'd seen clips of his shooting before, but not much of his driving and cutting ability. Strong finisher. It looks like he has a very polished, well-rounded game. I could see him filling Baylor's shoes nicely (on offense, not sure about his rebounding or defense).
