Not something I'd worry about too much, he should be able to develop his off hand with little issues at the next level, but it will be a process and I wouldn't expect him to be able to go right pretty much at all year 1.

I'm pretty sure LJ is right-handed. I know he drives and dunks a lot with his left, but if you watch his shooting form, you'll see that he shoots with his right.

Only on this board would someone write such a long and derogatory post about a Creighton baller when he doesn’t even know if the player is right or left handed.

Wow.

Also worth noting about LJ being too slight at 6’4” and 175 pounds to compete…

Last year’s Big East POY was 6’3” and 195 pounds. (Carter)

The 2022/2023 POY was 6’4” and 190 pounds. (KoleK)

2021/2022 POY was 6’1” and 180 pounds. He also shared it in 2020/2021. (Gillespie)

2019/2020 - 6’2” 185 pounds. (Powell)

2018/2019 - 5’10” 170 pounds (Howard)

2017/2018 - 6’2” 185 pounds. (Brunson)

2015/2016 - 6’3” 190 pounds (Dunn)

2014/2015 (shared) - 6’3” 190 (Dunn) and 6’3” 185(Arcidiacono)

Crazy run of POYs not too far from where LJ was as a senior in high school.

Looking locally, Trey Alexander is 6’4” 190. Ty-Shon was 6’3” 190.

No one is expecting LJ to win this award, or be either of the Alexanders. That’s not the point. The point is, it’s fair to say a precedent has been set for players to excel at or near LJ’s measurables. He will get better/stronger too. I think he will be able to compete just fine.m

EDIT: Also, CU’s website has LJ now at 195 pounds. I know they can exaggerate those numbers sometimes, but my guess is that exaggeration would also apply to all the POYs and Alexanders listed above.

The roster update makes it moot, but the difference in weight for most of the examples you provided is quite significant. 175 is rather slight for a 6'4" basketball player.

That being said, I would not anticipate strength being an issue for him and if anything, it stood out as a positive from the tape I've seen. He's a power driver who wins with strength and explosiveness more than shiftiness.

As mentioned, he’s now listed at 195 pounds on CU’s website. Same or more LBS than most of the POYs listed.

This is an incredibly important debate.

that has to be one of the biggest percentage drops I've seen! A few people drop from 7-0 to 6-10/6-9, etc., but a 3" drop off of 6-4 is a big chunk of height.

Of course, nobody who watched him thought he was 6-4 either ;) Heckuva player though, and happy to not have to play him in the BE anymore

Fwiw, Marquette listed him at 6-3.
