Well folks,
It seems as though every followon article irt the new Big East MR/TV contract is breaking out the conservative numbers that Sportico aired/guessed the other day ($75-80 million/year...$6.8 - $7.2 million/perschool/year). Those numbers equate to less than the 2013 $500 Million. $75M = $450M/over 6 years / $80M = $480M over 6 years. These are conservative estimates which are reasonably reachable in renegotiating with just Fox/CBS. Having upped the ante with bigbucks NBC and TNT (no more NFL for TNT), for top tier AND
expanded conference content, Sportico's guesses are continued "Lowballing". I tend to agree with LockedOn Uconn's (BE) estimates (rumored by his sources) of 'closer' to $1Billion over 6 years - meaning significantly more annual bucks than Sportico's meager, lowball guess/estimate. I'm guessing the GW11's take (HLOH member) of $9M - $11M/school/yr; or $600M up to $800M over the 6-year span is closer to the actual terms.

https://www.nbcsports.com/pressbox/pres ... -agreement As the top basketball conference, the BEast has consistently demonstrated top notch/tier 1 level content in both men's and women's basketball, as well as olympic sports. Four mens; NCAA National Championships, consistent NCAA bids (5 on avg), and improved womens' basketball, all demand top tier compensation. Big East content has been lowballed for well over 12 years now and $450 - 480 million/6 years continues to reflect a 'lowballing' attitude and position.
It should also be noted that the conference is talking in terms of "expanded content" for content hungry NBC & TNT. There's the standard expandibility clause in the contract for additional dollars should the conference expand (by taking 3 to 5 ACC leftover teams: Independent Football Notre Dame, Duke, Syracuse...perhaps 1 to 2 others if needed should UConn bail out again. The conference had excellent fiscal & negotiating councel from firms Allen & Company and Proskauer.
