Rumors are to round out the staff, a former staff member on Kingston's staff at USC will be joining him here.

I have been critical of the coaching search so far. But, I will admit that I don't think we could have hired anyone more qualified than Mark Kingston. I know SC fans are not complimentary. But, he did lead them to six NCAA tournaments and two super-regionals. Unfortunately for him, SC expects trips to Omaha. I am also glad to see he is getting to fill out his staff with his own people. It really makes you wonder what Ed's role will be next season.

In today's OWH, it says that 13 players from 2024 have hit the portal. We know Hogan Helligso transferred to UNL, Koch to Auburn, and Capece/Wendt/Vetock are in the portal (although Wendt and Capece are still listed on the roster). Any word on other transfers?

I'm cautiously optimistic here. On its face, this is a great veteran staff that should elevate the program. However, 3 folks in the dugout with HC experience could lead to a "too many leaders, not enough followers" situation if roles (especially Ed's) aren't clearly defined.

Well the two new guys have worked together at multiple stops. And I'm guessing Coach Ed knows his role for this upcoming season as a condition of not being let go. IMO, he's the face with no authority. It's Kingston as the captain of the ship, just not officially for one year.

The coach in waiting stuff is kind of uncharted territory.

Getting roster replenished with some talent will alleviate a lot of questions.
