It is even harder to imagine the former South Carolina HC would spend a year coaching under Ed. According to 1620, the former SC coach made $800,000 at SC. He could likely get paid more as an assistant at an SEC or ACC school rather than HC at CU. This coach-in-waiting idea seems like one of the crazier ideas ever for a mid-tier baseball program.

In theory could he be the coach in waiting while remaining at SEMS? So maybe he has accepted the job but not announcing it or coming to CU until Ed leaves?

If the SC guy would open a recruiting pipeline to the south, I'd be intrigued.

Hopefully this is out to bed by end of week or so. Guessing there are quite a few coaches in town for CWS and might be networking interview fest like hoops final four

How does a newly hired, HC in waiting even complete his staff? He basically has to wait a year to do that. I don't know if this was Marcus' idea or Ed's; but, this is crazy. It is not like people are knocking down the door to be CU's head baseball coach. And, if we can't hire a sitting HC of a low-major program with ties to Nebraska, then we have issues.

Maybe we are waiting to hire Hendry's son when Virginia's season is over.

I’m not sure what people are expecting. For baseball purposes, CU is a mid major in a mid major conference with enormous tuition, no NIL for baseball to speak of and partial scholarships still the thing as far as I know.

The only thing, ONLY, CU has to offer that is unique is they play in the Mecca of college baseball.

Some reality checks are needed around here. That said, the plan put together by Blossom (presumingly by him) is bogus and sets the program back a peg or three.

I don't think baseball expectations are that out of whack.

Make BE tournament every year in a mid major baseball conference

Make NCAAs every 1/2 seasons out of those four - Swing away in NCAAs

has anyone put expectations above that?

Mitch Moorman is out. That is the entire coaching staff.

What a disaster.

The one positive, the HC in waiting can and should assemble the staff and get the assistants he wants and won't have to let anyone go. It's the most positive I can spin this right now.
