Hope he is right. It makes a ton of sense for all parties concerned. Mac really loves the players he's recruited and the program he's helped to build to this level. He is way underpaid, but I doubt he has a driving urge to be the top paid couch in the country but anyone who works that hard wants what is fair as well

And for the Administration, no way they will find a coach at the same level to come here, and not figuring out how to keep your coach who just got you to the Elite 8 (and who just beat the #1 ranked returning NCAA champ at home) is a bad way for an AD to help their job stability

Extra million per season and half a million towards NIL would be nice.

I noticed Hurley has a 6 year $32 million deal. That’s $5+ million per year for those that don’t like math.

(Cost of living is a little higher on the east coast.)

As a side note, U Conn athletics has made headlines for being broke.

Completely agree, Chicago.

For me, there has never been a more important time to make Mac happy. In the past, if he left, we could’ve gotten someone solid to replace him. If he had simply gone to Ohio State or Arizona State for money that Creighton can’t afford, that would suck but we could get DeVries, Huss, Lutz, etc.

But if he leaves because of a rift with administration, you can likely say goodbye to anyone on his coaching tree and then some. Mac is so well thought of in the coaching world and you know anyone who respects him likely wouldn’t touch the job with a 10-foot pole. If word got out that he left because of our president and/or AD (assuming the well-documented rumors are true), that could be catastrophic.

I stop far short of saying “Pay the man!” or “Back up the Brinks truck.” Mac *should* absolutely get a raise but I sincerely doubt that is all he wants. I assume he wants the powers that be to make things right with him and to ultimately appreciate him for all that he does for the university and the Omaha community. He loves this place and is on record saying he wants it to be his last stop. We need to make that happen.

But...but why would this even be a story if he just signed an extension a couple of seasons ago?

I guess some of the chatter was not made up and we weren't all a bunch of clucking hens...
