It could be totally unrelated idk. Jake Ryan seems puzzled in the comments though.

I don’t think this is anything. Rob retweeted a part of an interview from last March on accident that I think he may think is a segment of todays interview with the same guy.

And I think Jake is wondering why he retweeted the interview from last March haha.

Yes - Twitter/X is sending the message. And I just sent this via email to the Athletic Department & CU Alumuni group:

I am writing as a concerned CU alumnus and longtime season ticket holder. Coach McDermott is the reason I decided to stop buying single game tickets and become a season ticket holder years ago. As a husband and father, I am proud of our program and the values it represents. CU did not live up to those ideals in 2021 with how Coach McDermott was treated in the wake of his poor choice of words - the "plantation" comment. That continues to this day. I and many others have seen an insufficient effort by Father Hendrickson and AD Blossom towards rebuilding and/or maintaining that relationship. This is due in no small part to the fact that Coach McDermott deserves a significant raise in compensation for his performance.

I speak for many in saying this, and be sure that Father Hendrickson and AD Blossom know it: Fix it or we're gone.

An apology and/or public affirmation of Coach McDermott's impeccable, career-long character and commitment to excellence, without which CU would never be where it is today, and most of all - PAY HIM. Now. He deserves an offer for a contact paying least $3 million per year or more, and everyone knows it.
If this does not happen and Coach McDermott leaves, you can count my money and support for Creighton out. Your move, Father Hendrickson.

Thank you.

Although you're lying your support for Creighton being out, I love this. Really what it comes down to is that if Blossom can't do what it takes to keep McDermott happy and here, his ass is on the chopping block.

From an ESPN+ article written by Jeff Borzello yesterday regarding the coaching carousel:

Regarding "Guys Who Could Look Around":
"Never before has there been so much talk of high-major coaches looking to move -- or at least being willing to listen to other opportunities. Some of this has to do with the aforementioned NIL, some has to do with wanting to start fresh. Creighton's Greg McDermott and Washington State's Kyle Smith are likely candidates for multiple openings, while Oklahoma's Porter Moser, Arkansas' Eric Musselman, BYU's Mark Pope and Arizona State's Bobby Hurley could all listen to other schools. Others who could look around: Iowa's Fran McCaffery, USC's Andy Enfield, Texas A&M's Buzz Williams, Mississippi State's Chris Jans and Virginia Tech's Mike Young."

Under the "Jobs Already Open" section:
"Ohio State made the stunning -- in terms of timing -- move last week to fire Chris Holtmann with a month left in his seventh season. Did the Buckeyes do it to get a jump on Louisville or another big program set to begin a coaching search? And who are they going after? There are several layers to this one. Outgoing athletic director Gene Smith made the decision to fire Holtmann, while incoming athletic director Ross Bjork will lead the search for a replacement -- assisted by Collegiate Sports Associates, which helped the school run its AD search. From what we're hearing, they've cast a wide net in the first few days of the search, but should zero in on a handful of names soon. Creighton's Greg McDermott, Xavier's Sean Miller and South Carolina's Lamont Paris are among the candidates expected to be involved. Dayton's Anthony Grant has appeared very comfortable with the Flyers, but could the Buckeyes try to tempt him? A potential long shot name to watch is Washington State's Kyle Smith."

"High Profile Names to Watch":

Greg McDermott, Creighton Bluejays: McDermott has guided the Bluejays to at least one win in three straight NCAA tournaments, including last season's run to the Elite Eight. Creighton is currently inside the top 20 nationally. McDermott has been linked to other jobs in the past, but there have been growing whispers in recent weeks that he's willing to seriously listen. Ohio State is interested and Louisville may well be, too.

Other notes:
- "Darian DeVries, Drake Bulldogs: Indiana State's losses last week opened the door for Drake to push for an MVC title. DeVries has led Drake to the NCAA tournament in two of the past three seasons, and 78 wins over that span. He could be in the mix at Creighton if McDermott leaves."

- Growing buzz that Dana could retire this year

-Bobby Hurley, Will Wade, Holtmann, Josh Schertz (ISU) could be candidates at DePaul

-Scott Drew, Nate Oats, Mac, and Dusty May possible names at Louisville

- Many people unhappy with the Nova situation, but unlikely anything happens this year

- Hoibergs seat (obviously) has cooled given this seasons performance

-Other "high profile" names that could be on the move besides Mac are Dusty May, Sean Miller, Nate Oats, Lamont Paris, Porter Moser, Eric Musselman, Kyle Smith, Will Wade, Mark Pope, Chris Beard, Randy Bennett, Bobby Hurley

- Holtmann possibly an option at Depaul, Chris Mack could be a fit at Vandy, UCF, or FSU if they open; LaVall Jordan, Tom Crean, Josh Pastner and Cuonzo Martin may all want to coach next year.

"Your move, Father Hendrickson" is some really good internet tough guy crap for an email that you didn't even send to him.

Let's stop pretending that the university did Mac some great disservice in 2021. Was the comment out of character and most likely a clumsy fumbling of a different (separately problematic) idiom? Yep. But on the heels of a very hot 2020 from a race-relations and political standpoint, there was a legitimate question as to whether he'd survive it. Reception to a three-game suspension was pretty mixed on campus, including two women's basketball players transferring from a program that doesn't have players transfer out.

The first domino to fall was TyTy Washington pulling his commitment. You can argue whether he was looking for a way out once his star got brighter anyway, but "the comment" was easy cover for a star recruit to move on. But for Trey and Kaluma committing that spring, it could have gotten really dark really quickly.

Mac screwed up, and he would have been damn near untouchable that summer if the University had let him go. So this idea that he was done wrong and that Hendrickson and Blossom have something for which to atone is laughably false.

Can you let me know what email address you sent this to, so I can at least make sure that they know I'm not one of the "many" for whom you purport to speak? It's poorly written and mistakes a whole bunch of online rumors and innuendo as the truth. I think we're all in agreement that Mac needs to be kept here and paid accordingly, but the tone in an email like this is foolish and entirely ineffective.

Mac made an unfortunate analogy on a whim. The fact that it was even considered to fire him was insane to me, though. I get tensions were high at that time with the election and what not like you said, but firing him would've been a terrible mistake by simply giving into the social media mob. No one with a normal functioning brain thinks that there was any malicious intent in regards to his "p word" statement. Internet trolls can make fun of it all day, but every regular person...in...ya know...reality....knows that the guy isn't a racist. I mean come on. That's why if I were him I'd maybe be a little peeved if people I'd worked with for years were willing to turn on me simply for optics even while knowing that what I said/did was an honest mistake with no intent to actually harm anyone the way it was being portrayed by social media.
