They only have two posts right now (unless you include Traudt). The 12th or 13th guy on the roster isn't going to factor into the rotation unless things go terribly wrong. Knox and Vice are likely more practice bodies for this season than anything else as they develop and see what they turn into down the road. Their walk-ons are all guards.
Jasen Green is probably that length/athleticism/defense at the 3/4 spot option if you're looking for a change-up from the Traudt/Miller options. If they do add Vice and Kaluma does depart, that still leaves them with a scholarship to use on another backcourt player. They've missed on their top targets for that spot so far (Rohde, Sallis). Lawson could be that guy (looks like he knows Vice; maybe something there). Defense would be nice, but they could also use some scoring off the bench (as we saw last year). Basically, they just need someone who can and is willing to play a backcourt bench role, which could still be significant minutes depending on how whoever comes in stacks up against Farabello/Dotzler/Miller at the 3/Knox.
Nice breakdown Jacob,
If Kaluma departs, adding Vice and Lawson fills a lot of roster needs pretty quickly
I like what I've seen of Vice's game and as you point out at the very least he's a good guy for practice (both he and Knox represent realistic size/athleticism for practice) and have skills to build on.
Lawson would be a really important piece. He handles the ball well, shoots and has the length and size to match-up a lot of ways. And, even if Trey returns as we hope, it's likely his last year, so a significant bench upgrade for next year and a future starter. Lots and lots of ties between Lawson and the Millers and Creighton and Vice (believe Vice was a Soph. on the team with Mason and Lawson)
