Just a reminder not to post info or intel gleaned from paid / private boards like Bluejay Banter that is intended to be exclusive for their membership. We've always had a cordial relationship with those guys and respect their request to keep an eye on this.

Thanks!

Lawson is listed as a small forward on some sites and as a SG on others. He hit 41% from 3 last year. Does anyone know if he can handle the ball and/or guard a good shooting guard?

can't talk to his D so much, but as a recruit in HS he had a reputation as a good ball handler and passer, and I believe he played some PG

ESPN comment on him from HS (when he committed to Oregon)

Thanks Chicagojay. I would be ecstatic to get Lawson or Sallis.

I think Sallis is more out of the picture at this point. Hearing Vice will commit and then we will have 1 more open since AK probably won't be back.

Agree, they look like either would be a great addition. Hunter may be a better defensive player for now, but Lawson's a better shooter and has what it takes to play good D as well.

Honestly, I’m not sure there is much difference between the two positions in today’s basketball. I think a lot people just call them both “wings”.

You just want to have some size at one of those spots.

Do we need Vice at this point? Some athleticism at 3-4 and some length for defense in the BE seems like more of a need.

I like Vice's game and think he's important for the roster going forward. We are likely losing Kalk next year (hopefully not this year) and we've had times when we were thin at the 4 last year. Vice can play both the 4 and 5, and can run the floor pretty well and is big enough already (230+) to come in and bang in the paint as a Frosh. He gives us immediate depth and flexibility on building the roster in the future

For the 3 to 4 forward types we have both Miller and Green (after his RS year), which gives us a pretty deep depth chart, if not a lot of experience in that area.

Bigger problem, IMO, is the lack of a bigger Wing/G to backup Trey, more of a 2/3 type. If he gets in foul trouble or needs a breather, we are looking at a smaller lineup. I don't necessarily like Baylor or Miller playing D on a lot of the SG's in the BE. I think that's why we're seeing Sallis and Lawson's names pop up as they can fit that role (and be groomed to take over starting when Trey likely leaves next year)
