Really interesting and good news.

As I was looking at the roster, even if we assume everyone comes back it felt to me like we were missing a combo guard type who can play a bit of PG and SG and Sallis would fit that and even be able to play some SF as well

PG: Ashworth / (Alexander) / (Farabello) / Dotzler (RS)
SG: Alexander / Farabello
SF: Scheierman / Miller
PF: Kaluma / Traudt / (Miller) / Green
C: Kalkbrenner / King

Sallis is a really good passer and while he didn't shoot well last year, that looks to be something we could help him fix. He's also a guy who can get to the basket and is an athletic, excellent defender. If we look at this year as a big push for the championship game/national title while Kalk and others are on the roster, Sallis could be an important piece in that rotation.

If Art and Trey stay, and I really hope they do, the only thing missing from the above is somebody that looks like Sallis. Athletic defender with size on the wing to defend when Trey isn't on the floor.

That said, there aren't a lot of minutes to go around with all that talent. It's an embarrassment of riches.

I've been seeing some talk on KU discords/boards that Dirty Bill Self is tampering hard with Alexander. Not sure it's anything to be concerned about, but I have heard enough unique references to it that I am finding myself somewhat anxious about it, especially given that he hasn't interacted with anything on social media related to the Ashworth signing. Someone please talk me down.

I haven't heard anything about it. But the most important thing this offseason is keeping Trey.

At the end of the day, if Hunter wants to stay home, he has 2 choices.

Either go with a proven winner, top ten Jays team in arguably the best conf in America.

Or go down I80 and play for a bottom tier, B10 team in a, year in and year out, overrated conf that fails miserable every year when March comes around.

Jaysker12 wrote:Hunter is not a good offensive player. He was below 50th percentile in every scoring category last season, even in transition opportunities. Two seasons of bad 3 pt shooting. I just don't see how that will change when he steps up in competition level.

We'd be recruiting him for his size, defense, and rebounding potential. All things that this team could really use from the guard/wing slot. Just not sure how the coaches will pitch him considering playing time will be competitive.

He's not a good 3 PT shooter, but he's very efficient from 2 PT range and even with the 3pt shooting problems, he has put up solid TS%'s the past couple of years .605 and .548 (by comparison he would have been between Baylor .568 and Nembhard at .543 last year) and his career of .573 is just behind Trey's .578 last year. His usage rate was really low the last 2 years at Zaga - was he passing up shots? just not a good fit for their system? Too many shooters with him?

But, as Ethanfor3 says, that's what we're missing on the roster. We can really use someone of that size and athleticism to help give us size and versatility when Trey's not on the floor

You're right, though, minutes will be very competitive

It's always funny to me that the people with 6 posts randomly come in here with rumors.

Steven Ashworth - Creighton
Andrew Rohde - Virginia (Heard there was a paid board that said Rohde was a pretty much done deal to CU. Don't know why you'd pay money for that one lol)
Then there is a new target that has emerged with high mutual interest. Former 5 star. My crystal ball for him is Creighton at the moment.
Just a prediction...

Rohde should be announcing today...

I was only made aware of the board like a month ago lol. Not sure what's funny about someone using the board for its intended purpose Brendan.

This is actually very generous in your characterization of UNL. You're assuming they are even still in the postseason conversation to begin with.
