6’ 7 1/2” seems oddly specific for Helmzy?

So, let’s take stock. Assuming everyone stays from this point forward and assuming we get ashworth and rohde, both “ifs” right now

Pg (covered)
Ash worth
Trey
Dotzler

SG
Trey
Rohde
Bello

Small forward (covered)
Baylor
Miller
Rohde

Power forward (covered)
Art
Traudt
Baylor/Miller
Green

Center (covered)
Kalk
King
Art / Traudt

Seems to me like the last spot should go to a tough combo guard with Trey size.

We’re pretty well set if we can bring in the two guys this weekend if nobody else leaves.

Arguably we’d have a stronger team than last year with some depth.

That said, it’s possible we lose Art to transfer and Trey to the nba.

Then we’d need a good, athletic 2 in the worst way.

I don’t undervalue Art like some do, but he’s less of a worry to me than Lodi my Trey, who I think is more valuable than we think.

There's no way FF is going to be relegated to third string scrapping for less than ten minutes a game.

It's like some have an idealistic idea of Mac vs what we've seen last 15 years.

I don’t see Mason getting much run at the 3 with how Mac wants to play. If Art somehow returns that creates a log jam at the 4 tho. I could see Art getting some run at the 3 in that case. That last spot will be really hard to sell to a guard with Trey, Baylor, Ashworth, Rohde and Bello in front of them. If Art doesn’t return you can go after a bigger wing with more PT available but then you still have another scholarship to fill.

Don't think we can expect to fill every scholarship available with immediate impact players. You land your top targets then probably look to fill out the roster with developmental guys who maybe aren't looking to play a big role immediately. Only so many guys can play.

Say they return all four remaining starters and land both a starting guard and a sixth-man type. If Mac goes 9 deep (assuming the bench guys can stay on the court this year and Mac trusts them a little more), you're looking at something like:

Transfer G (30)
Alexander (30), Farabello (12)
Scheierman (30), Transfer Guard/Wing (20)
Kaluma (28), Traudt/Miller/Green (10)
Kalkbrenner (30), King (10)
That leaves Dotzler plus whoever they else they add out of the regular rotation (up to two scholarships to fill).

Let's just speculate that Kaluma doesn't return and that they land both of this weekend's visitors. We're looking at something like:

Ashworth (30)
Alexander (30), Farabello (12)
Scheierman (30), Rohde (21)
Traudt/Miller/Green (37)
Kalkbrenner (30), King (10)
Again, that leaves Dotzler plus whoever they else they add out of the regular rotation.

Point is I'm not sure "needs" will matter much because if they hit on their top targets there probably won't be minutes leftover for anybody else (unless they recruit over Farabello and land three rotation guards out of the portal, or recruit over that PF trio including a guy they just added in Traudt). With two scholarships left, maybe you target a young wing/guard, maybe a third center with upside for scout team purposes (remember, Yates is gone).

I am not a big Hurley fan but U Conn had a great rotation. He played 5 guys between 25 and 30 minutes. And, then he played 4 guys between 12 and 18 minutes. 9 man rotation.

To me that is pretty amazing. It keeps your starters from being worn out and it keeps the bench guys engaged and ready for their moment.

Obviously, you need a lot of talent. It’s tough to play 9. It’s really hard to keep 10 guys happy.

Mac has gone a majority of years with an unused scholie in his pocket. If Ashworth and Rohde sign I wouldn’t be surprised if the roster is set for the year assuming the three unannounced starters return.

That’s basically what Dana used to do here as well. Mac has never, in all his years here, been comfortable with that sort of rotation.

He's had a few that have had 9 man rotations at Creighton. His better teams have definitely been tighter rotations though.
