Hope Ashworth and Rohde hit it off with one another tomorrow and get a chance to see what it would be like to be in there throwing lobs to Kalk, getting kickouts for three, etc. Let's get commitments from both by the end of the day. Add that to the Baylor news today and then official word from Trey and Kalk, and we can all go have a great weekend.

Looks like Ashworth took 9 3's againt Westminster, non D1 which is why Kenpom didn't show that.

IMO there is no more perfect fit out there to replace R2.

If things go well tomorrow and we land Ashworth and Rohde, that leaves us with one more slot if everyone else comes back, correct?

Thoughts on what we would need to round out the team? Some backcourt/PG depth, I suppose?

Sort of got this drift from a previous post but had not seen it directly attributed to a talk with the kid.

Unlike so many coaching staffs, Mac and crew seem to really zero in on kids who fit instead of casting a big net (Skers, Pig Sooey).

I've been thinking maybe a older / grad transfer type wing/guard who is physical and can get to the basket, but if we get Ashworth and Rohde, I think we are a deeper and better team next year. Rohde does get to the rim and slashes quite a bit and plays some PG as well, so those 2 alone would add a ton to the team

And agree with your other comment - Coaches really seemed to focus on filling spots that we needed to make a run next year.. one that goes even further

IMHO, the only need (if we get the PG spot filled) would be a long athletic defender who could guard guys like Hawkins at U Conn. I’m assuming Rohde isn’t a shut down defender.

Last year, it was noticeable when Trey came off the floor and there was a 6’5” scorer to be guarded.

that's why I said Grad transfer, but it would be/will be hard to find a guy that developed and even when Damien got to Creighton he had development to do. Maybe not a popular opinion, but Miller's Defense improved a great deal over the course of the year last year and will take another step forward with another year of S&C and the experience he got last year - he's one of the best athletes on the team, IMO

It will be interesting to see what the coaches do
