I see them as a bit different in styles. Traudt's 2-3 inches taller and 20 or 25 lbs heavier. While they can do some similar things, I think they can also co-exist on the floor with Traudt playing more of a stretch 4 type role and Mason more on the wing

Traudt's size might also fit in as a small 5 role where he stretches the floor after Kalk leaves for the Pro game as another way to get rest for King (hopefully after next year, though) even w/ Traudt at the 4 most of the time

I wouldn’t say he couldn’t get on the court. He chose to redshirt.

When your bench is as thin as ours seems to always be I can’t imagine there is ever really a risk of having “too many” guys who can do stuff.

Does anyone really know what Traudt’s game is like?

I remember recruiting him and hoping he would come here and I vaguely remember him being able to shoot threes, but that’s about it.

As to redundancy with Miller, I sort of agree, but I would view Mille as more of a 3 than a 4 and in my fantasy world I see traudt being a 4 or small ball 5 ala Hegner if that’s his skill set.

Found some highlights, definitely a stretch 4, or small ball 5 if he could add some weight. Miller is agile enough to play a 3 and push to the 4 in my mind. That said, they would look and feel similar, but could coexist if you had an explosive backcourt with them.

Anybody have relevant clips of his game?

this is 247's old review of him as a prospect. I remember a few film clips but would have to look. I think the Hegner comp is low for him, as he is bigger than Hegner was at that age (and looks to have a frame for more bulk) and is a much more athletic player. But 6-10 guys who can shoot 3's have a nice baseline!

Thanks.

Agreed and as someone else above said, if your bench is as thin as ours…

1 other thing, I see Mason as a replacement for schierman, so having someone that could play 4/5 to back up art, if he stays or at the 5 can’t hurt.

We don’t know a bunch…who stays, is Green good enough, etc.

Fill the squad with talent and let’s find a way to play 8 on a regular basis more than 5 min a game.

"We have too many 6'10" guys who are athletic and can shoot the three," said no college basketball coach ever.

Great find. I'd love to see him come back home and end up at Creighton
