Is it pretty safe to assume none of the starters would consider transferring? I know nothing's a guarantee, but I feel like all of them are either stay or NBA.

I can't speak for the players but anything can happen with NIL. One of the starters was offered $1 Million last off season

Where is Adama Sanogo?

No demand for 6'8" centers that are not explosive athletically, average defensively, and so-so shooting the ball.

In all seriousness, I'm a little surprised that Kalk and Sanogo aren't appearing on any of those lists.

Kalk is a 7' Center with really solid fundamentals and footwork who has played with the national team.

Sanogo is built like an NBA player, even if he'd be undersized. But he does have a solid post game, is very strong, and he has shown the ability to step out and shoot the three enough to be intriguing, to me.

It's pretty interesting to see three Jays on mock draft boards. It's still hard to get used to having to be prepared every single year that the entire starting roster could just be "gone" the next year through early entry, transfer portal, etc. I do, in some ways, miss the days of feeling like you had pretty good predictability about what your roster would look like next year and the year after. And even though there is zero chance of it happening, the thought of this starting five coming back next year (or even the four other than Baylor) is the stuff of dreams, again, for the potential of a very special season.

NBA is no longer interested in C that can't shoot the 3 for the most part. See Drew Timme, TJD, etc

Which could be cool for college basketball - could become a big man's game to some degree.

Getting four years of big Ryan be pretty damn sweet.

If Kalk stays, does Fred leave? I hold out hope that since Fred is so new to the game of basketball, he understands the value of the development CU and Mac could provide with another year as a role player behind Kalk. But teenagers aren't known for their patience, so tough to predict.

If Kalk goes pro, I'd be comfortable with Fred as our starting center in 2023-2024.

If Art and Trey go pro, do we become a contender for Parker Friedrichsen? Under this scenario, CU becomes a desired landing spot for all the top-end portal transfers from other programs. I think the infusion of talent would be there, but impossible to identify right now.

I'll assume R2 stays. It'd be devastating if he didn't. Dotzler will serve as the solid back-up with something to prove.

Does Baylor take advantage of the "COVID year"? Feels like this should be handicapped at about a 1% chance, so let's assume no. Do we trust Jaysen Green or Mason Miller for those minutes? Do we get a transfer? All of the above?

What happens with Shtolzberg and Christofilis? A few decades ago, no one would question their path or journey because that's how it worked. You signed, you sat, you developed, you became meaningful contributors when you were ready. Murphy Brown isn't on TV anymore, so that's not how it works in 2023. Are they here for the long haul or will their roster spots be available?

If R2, Trey, Art, Kalk, Fred, Mason all stay, and we supplement them with some quality transfers, next year could be equally promising. There are about 40 different variations of what could happen with just those six players. Should be interesting. Recruiting and roster management in college basketball in 2023 can't be fun.

All great questions Vivid. I think that’s part of the reason Jay Wright got out.

The old joke used to be that some Kentucky player couldn’t turn pro because he couldn’t take the pay cut. Now with NIL, will we lose players to other higher paying schools? There are probably schools that can pay more than the G league without breaking a sweat.

To my mind, the top 2 returning players are Kalk and R2. The stats for this team in turns of posessions with and without Kalk are stunning. Next up would be R2 because experienced point guards are so important in the game today.

As the ancient Chinese curse goes, may you live in interesting times. Let’s hope life is boring on the outgoing transfer/pro front this spring.

Kalk did an interview on the Let It Fly podcast earlier this year. He sounded pretty firm he is staying at CU if he doesn't turn pro. As someone else mentioned, the NBA doesn't seem as interested in 7' centers which is one reason Zach Edey returned to Purdue this year.

In addition to Baylor, I think Francisco could take a COVID year too. Roster management has to be a huge challenge for coaches. I can see why some older coaches have retired.

Kalk is not agile or strong enough for the NBA. Of course they want 7-footers, but Kalk does not fit the physical profile.
